This subreddit is for everything related to print comics and webcomics. Artists are encouraged to post their own work. News and media for adaptations based on comic books are welcome. If You Are A Comic Artist Comic artists are welcome to post their own work any way they want. If you don't want to link to your website, put [OC] in your post title (it means "Original Content") or request Artist Flair. (Info on flair is below.) If You Are Not An Artist Link to an original source like the artist's website or a syndication site. Link to the page, not the image file, so the artist gets the credit and site traffic. Imgur/rehost links are ok for translations, but you must also state clearly it is a translation and link to the non-English source in a comment.

welp...i have a favorite new comic...

Isn't it crazy that guys who work out, wear polos, have tattoos, and fist bump each other aren't human and deserve to be shot? I am open minded and enlightened and if someone isn't like me, we should literally hunt them.
edit: "This guy is offended by something I like, rather than look inward and think about how the internet is exactly as exclusionary, moronic, and lacking in self awareness as this culture we're all mocking, I'm going to downvote his post, make a dank meme, and make a petition for Obama to personally handle something I heard about on /r/AskReddit once." Don't know what I expected in the comments of this gem of a comic.

It's a fucking joke! Nobody is saying you should literally hunt people. Christ almighty...

The joke is "People who are different than me aren't people." Historically, a lot of pretty fucked up dudes have told that joke to entire nations, and not a lot of people have found it funny. If the hunters in the comic were caricatures of "nerds," that would be pretty biting satire and I think the comic would be hilarious. Instead they're wealthy gentlemen, an archetype associated with success, intelligence, and class. The message is clear: if you wear polos, have armband tattoos, and say "bro," "no homo," or "dime," you are an animal.
Hmm that comment about nerds makes me think this is an interesting troll. If so then kudos

You got it buddy. It's impossible to be offended by this, it's impossible to be shocked at the deficiency of self-awareness on reddit. Bros are subhuman, memes are important, and fetishizing J Law, defending the celebrity nude leakers (with a heaping dollop of victim-blaming thrown in,) and circlejerking about how knowing how to use the internet puts us on the same level as Bill Gates is absolutely not at all similar to the cultures we mock. Glad someone finally saw through my ruse.

Why do you talk as if reddit is one person? I come here a lot so i guess im "part of reddit" and I have no idea about half the shit you just said. Most of the ppl that vote on the posts never even come to the comments. I think once you realize that reddit itself doesnt have opinions you'll be a lot less angry.
Jesus, man. I was in a fraternity for my college years and was immersed in the bro culture. I thought the comic was hilarious.
Well Im glad we had an intellectual as brave and insightful as you to really dig deep on the hidden messages of a 6 page comic made purely for comedic purposes.
What would we have done without you.
I'm not sure whether to respond seriously or snarkily so I'll give you both.
There's no "deep digging" in this at all, the message is overt and plain as day. It's like a children's book. As to the fact that this was made purely for comedic purposes, let's just think about Michael Richards calling a heckler a nigger, Julianne Hough dressing in blackface for Halloween, or Bill Cosby making light of rapes that he committed. I understand that the internet is a collective of billions of different people who each hold separate opinions, and that reddit as a format favors easy-to-digest content and upvoting things you like, so I understand that this was on the front page of /r/comics, but I expected to see more dissent in the comments. Oh well, easier to jump on the hate train and perpetuate the same us-versus-them mentality that caused those guys to bully us in high school.
Feel free to go through my comment history and downvote all my brave, edgy analysis on your way out.
No shit it wasn't deep digging. I was mocking you because you come across like a mentally challenged college student aspiring to be an English teacher.
Don't try to put limits on comedy to not offend people, or because you have problems discerning comedy form reality. That is your problem, and you have no right to push it onto other people
You are not a martyr. You are not for posting pseudo-intellectual comments to a site. You are not for giving up meaningless internet points. Stop trying to feed some bullshit victim complex.
Didn't mean to come across that way, if it's true then that's on me.
Not trying to censor or put limits, just wasn't expecting everyone in the comments to be on board with it. I thought the comic was more ignorant and combative than most, obviously. Not at all saying we should boycott the site or get them banned from reddit or whatever other words you put into my mouth, and I don't want to push this at all on other people. I was, however, extremely surprised that no one else thought this comic was as terrible as I did.
Sorry if I came across like I had a martyr complex. I don't picture myself as being persecuted for my belief that this comic is laughably stupid. I just didn't expect everybody to be so on board with it. If the bros in this comic were a mixed-race collective of urban youth with baggy pants and ghetto blasters, the author would be crucified. If the bros were a bunch women nagging each other and comparing purses, the comic would fit right in to the 1950's. Because these guys beat us up and stole our lunch money though, it's acceptable and admirable to joke about hunting them for sport.
People are people. Just because the target group is the ruling class doesn't make dehumanizing them any less wrong.
I disagree that the comics would be crucified if it were about urban youth, because I've seen similar topics make it to the front page before. And why do you keep making the strawman of some formally bullied nerd hell bent on petty revenge?
You're suppose to recognize this as comedy, laugh and move on. Or not laugh, that's fine too. But you don't make it a social justice issue. It doesn't matter what group the comic mocks, it's comedy and nothing more.
You're right, you changed my mind. The way I interpreted art was wrong. I will now enjoy my comedy by either laughing and walking away or just walking away. The Onion's sarcasm will be lost on me, the Daily Show's political commentary will leave a sour taste in my mouth. I'll also respect the status quo and remember that as long as your culture isn't mine, it's barbaric. Also I'll make jokes mocking single black mothers, handicapped war veterans, political refugees, and the mentally ill because comedy is just for laughing and doesn't reflect or reinforce our underlying societal beliefs. You did a good thing here today.
I think your interpretation and criticism of the comic is valid, but you're being incredibly hostile and abrasive expressing it.
If you'd changed HOW you made this point, I think you'd have a lot more people with you on this (and fewer downvotes).

My girlfriend and I used to joke about breaking up with each other a lot. We realized that we joked so often that we should have a safe word that we only use when we're being 100% serious, and we made that word "chortlesnort." So chortlesnort, I really appreciate the feedback. I didn't stop to read my comment and think about the voice I was using, and on reread I didn't even recognize the person who wrote this. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
I really appreciate that you made this reply. :) More often than not, if I point something like this out, I'm met with even more hostility and defense.
Thanks for being open to a comment like mine. :)

Don't thank me buddy. You made me realize I lost my cool and brought me into my right mind. Even if that's on the internet to an asshole arguing about a comic I can see the value in that. Thank you.
Nope. It's just a joke about the "bro" culture and how they act. Not that they should die.
Chill out, man. And don't voice your opinion like a douche like you did here.
