God, that sub is shit. One of the top posts is a thread of someone criticizing the sub and a reply calling that person fat. The entire. Comments section was just a bunch of people not even trying to justify their horrible bullying, it was just a bunch of people saying if you don't hate fat people, you are probably fat as well. God is it just a bunch of moronic assholes.

I'm pretty sure every person on that subreddit has serious self-esteem issues. They're either self-loathing secretly fat people themselves, or they are thin but have a severe mis-perception of their own bodies and see themselves as fat. It is not mentally healthy to view fat people with more hatred than regular people view pedophiles and murderers.

There are probably a few trolls there too, egging them on, but even trolls have standards.

That sub drains the intelligence and personality from those who frequent it. It turns them into repetitive, hateful, unfunny, uninteresting dullards.

It gets to a point where all they know how to do is circlejerk about fatties with the same 5 or 6 insults. They stop even leaving /r/fatpeoplehate because they get downvoted anywhere else because no one else finds the same "hamplanet" or "muh curves" jokes over and over.

I stumbled into that sub for the first time yesterday and spent 45 minutes just scrolling through everything. I was seriously stunned at the self-righteous and holier-than-thou attitudes.

You're completely right. I once had the audacity to give a fat person in a bullshit story the benefit of the doubt and had one of these guys messaging me until I blocked him. Kept calling me fat too. I'm not. In fact I worked really hard to lose weight over the last couple of years.

You know, the only reason you might not hate fat people would be if you were fat yourself (and even then there are people who insult themselves for being fat - "I know I'm a fat piece of shit" - because reddit approval means so much to them). It's not like you may have some shred of humanity in you that recognises a person is more than their body shape.

I wonder, aren't there some smart, good people that would happen to also be fat that reddit would respe... nevermind.
