You don't really need feminism

You know, I’ve seen many variations of this make the rounds in feminist circles. They smugly nod to themselves and reblog it, too ignorant to realize they’re exactly the kind of “nice guy” they so frequently shit bricks over; the “nice guy” who likes to remind you of all the “nice” things he’s done for you, and why you owe him. The “nice” guy ( or girl)  who uses this guilt trip to manipulate you into sleeping with them, ignoring their faults, and the first time they hit you or cheat on you, they’ll use it to justify why you should stay. 

You see, this person seems to think that women OWE feminism, in return for all the things it’s allegedly done for them historically- we’ll get to discussing just how much feminism has actually done for women in just a moment.

But I really want to zoom in on this fucked up logic, and the sheer amount of condecention (and ego, whew!) OP has displayed in making this post - any pompous feminist who agrees with this line of reasoning, for that matter.

OP opens up with the same tired claim feminists have been making every time a criticism of the movement comes up; “You just don’t know what feminism is!”. Yes, sweetheart, we do - I’d bet all the cash in my wallet the average egalitarian/antifeminist knows more about feminism than the feminists who make this claim. 

Next of course is the second most used feminist phrase, “it’s not my job to educate you”. This is a cop-out, and allows them to simply parrot what they’ve been told about feminism without having to come up with an original thought about it themselves. You see, they expect this phrase to absolve them of having to defend their viewpoint - they can simply say that any argument you make is because “you don’t know what feminism is”, (totally didn’t see that coming!!)  and when you ask them to prove it, they follow up with “it’s not my job…” …. I think you know where this is going. 

OP’s “old friend” said something stupid, so then OP (being pretty ignorant and gullible themselves) decided to repeat it.

Ironically (but not surprisingly), OP goes on to show that, in fact, she knows fuck-all about the actual achievements of historical (and modern) feminism.

Firstly, let’s talk about these force-fed Suffragettes and why they didn’t actually gain women the right to vote - just rich white women.

In fact, many Sufferagettes were supporters of segregation - good ol’ Susan B. Anthony, a racist rich white woman. Basically everything tumblr shits itself over, and yet….MUH REVISIONIST HISTORY!  

See, women could actually vote in 32 states before the Sufferagettes ever marched - white women, that is. Still no voting rights for Black people or Native Americans of any gender.

Furthermore, let’s examine just what the “right to vote” for men entailed: You had to own land (so rich, and likely white), and later you had to sign up for the Draft.

Now, the Draft was fun because it basically meant that as a young strapping American Male, your bodily autonomy was worth about as much as….$500. Yep, you could buy out of that pesky old Draft…if you were rich. Back in that time, $500 was a shit ton of money - thus a shit load of the poor male population got shipped off to die in the trenches while everyone else enjoyed the freedom and piece of mind their mangled corpses and weeping mothers bought for them. 

But did the Suffragettes fight for this right? NOPE! They fought for the uncontested, no-strings-attached right to vote, and won it (for white women), thus gaining the same rights as men with none of the cost that came with it.

Speaking of!

Did you know a scholarship was created for men as a benefit from forcing them to sign up for the draft?

You know who made sure *women* got access to that scholarship too? Feminists.

It was called the Workforce Reinvestment Act and was to be a benefit for those who signed up for selective service (i.e. the Draft) and was therefore open only to men.

Feminists said fuck that shit… now women benefit from the WRA… but still don’t have to sign up for the fucking draft.

Equality! 

I’m so glad I get to fight and die for my rights (mind you, I’m only against not having the choice to opt out; It’s my personal belief that if you’re not gonna step up and defend your country when the time comes, you can’t complain if you lose it either.However, I would not force this on anyone.)  with no say in the matter! Male privilege, fuck yeah!

Even today, as it stands, if you don’t sign up for Selective Service (it’s the draft, let’s not fucking split hairs here), a man WILL be denied his rights as a citizen, can face jail time and huge fines, and basically can’t do anything. No social security(so no job, except maybe under the table…or the Army! Ba-dum-tss!), no voting, no bank loans, no credit( so no apartments, no car), no mortgage (so no house)…..ah, smell that eeeeeeeeeequality! 

Whew! Sure am glad Feminism “gained the right to vote for women”, though! 

I suppose it’s silly to point out that Blacks still couldn’t vote, and Native Americans didn’t gain the right to vote until 4 years after women. Because fuck minority women, right? Can’t have the help (or those savages!) influencing politics!

And oooo yes, let’s talk about those Rape Crisis Centers! We really should be thankful that resources exist for all those men and women who……ah.

See, a lot of rape crisis centers have only recently even considered accepting male victims - because of the socially accepted lie that men “hardly ever” or “never” get raped. Or that “it only happens in prison, because only men rape”. Or how about all the comedic male rape scenes in movies, T.V. shows, etc? There’s still almost NO support for male victims of rape, and rape awareness ads, posters, and information routinely focus on women as victims and men as the perps ("Don’t be that guy", hur hur).

Did you know a male is something like 80% more likely to be arrested in his lifetime? And once in prison, his chances of being raped skyrocket - meaning statistically, men are actually more likely to be the victim of some form of sexual assault in their lives? The catch is, they’re far less likely to report it. 

And before anyone goes “Well ITS PRIZON DOE!”, fuck you very much. It’s still rape. And again, “well it’s because all da menz!” … 40% reported rapes in prisons were by guards, and of those a large portion were female guards. 

And this claim, that crisis centers “wouldn’t exist” without feminism….so slavery would still be legal if not for Abe Lincolin? How can anyone even make that claim? There’s absolutely no way to know that, and considering there are far better ideologies for equality thriving today minus the man-hating and transphobia, I’m going to call bullshit. 

Hey, Marital Rape! One point for feminism. Well, half a point - still no gender neutral rape definition for male victims of female rapists. 

Here’s what gets me rolling - she claims that feminism, by and large, achieved all this - yet feminists also claim that men have always held the power. So …. while feminists advocated for these things, isn’t it straight white men that actually gave them rights?

Sound ridiculous? Then “Thank a feminist” should, too, because none of these piggy-backing fucks had anything to do with gaining women rights. NONE. 

Abolition of slavery - I wasn’t aware that was a “feminst victory”. OH WAIT, thaaats because it wasn’t. 

Labor Union - ah yes, I totally forgot about all those female coal mine workers, factory laborers, etc. that we hear so much about…..yeah, no. The Labor Unions were NOT a feminist victory, don’t even try to pull that shit. (OOooOooo I just love revisionist history! All the neat things that you learn about that never fucking happened!)

Divorce, birth control - eh, still don’t see how we’re claiming either “would have never ever ever happened without FEZMINSMS!” 

"To allow middle and upper class women to work outside the home (poor women have always worked outside the home)" - aka they did so, legally, because there was nothing stopping them from doing so.

Domestic abuse, sexual harrassment - apparently, only when women are the victims. Considering domestic abuse perps have been thoroughly proven to be nearly split 50/50 by gender, with lesbian couples seeing the HIGHEST rates of domestic abuse, and yet….the Primary Aggressor laws (the ones cops use to determine who to arrest when called to a DA situation - keep in mind, they HAVE to arrest someone, by law) specifically discriminate against male victims. As a male, your ONLY option in a domestic abuse situation where you are being attacked by a female is to run. You can’t defend yourself or you WILL go to jail.

Then of course, here’s the big speech OP was really working up to - and it’s a doozy.

As she rubs your nose in some piss going “NO, BAD DOG!”, she again takes the time to condescendingly remind women why they OWE feminism everything they have. Why their rights are not really their rights, but things that  would apparently be taken away without feminism. 

This is how an abusive relationship works; this is how feminism attempts to hold women hostage, and it’s fucking despicable.

It’s fucking terrifying. 

Feminism claims that it “fights for equality” - fuck that noise. Feminism claims that it fights for “a woman’s voice” - as long as you say what feminism tells you to say. As long as you believe what they tell you to.

As long as you keep singing their tune and toeing the line.

As long as you keep supporting the bullshit narrative of "oppression" and "we fight for equality!”. 

In short, OP is a salty hag who’s pissy because women don’t want to join their vagina cult - so she’s going to pull the “I bet those grapes were sour anyway” routine, sulk, and sit around talking shit about women more educated than her.
