Yeah, you're right. If this sub is about wailing about how evil women are, and how they get over all the time, without it being based on reality, equality and justice, it's not. It's sad. On Reddit you can either be a White Knight or a Dark Triad anti-paladin, but never anything in the middle.

As for the guy you sacked: First, did the guy you sacked make you millions of dollars that very few others could do as effectively? Doubt it. Did he also contribute to charities on the scale that Rice would have (cash wise and in terms of helping kids with clinics and crap like that?) Doubt it. This could have been much better done by making Rice change his actions, not just by punishing him. Same with Solo, if she gets the axe.

I promise you half the guys on that team do not give a fuck if he rapes goats in his spare time as long as he doesn't try to rape THEM. To them it's about the money. And his organization is going to have a tough time finding someone to replace him this late in the season. The Organization didn't just fuck Ray Rice. It fucked his team mates, his wife, the kids he could have helped, the companies who sold his TShirts, and the little kid down the street that brags to his friends in school that Ray Rice ran over his skateboard.

My point was (badly made) that we need to hold each other responsible for this shit. Not just the high profile people who can be easily made example of in the media, and then forgotten. Which is what will happen here.

We need to hold the cops who beat their wives, and the politicians who cheat on them (and deliver divorce notices to them while they're in the hospital with cancer) and the actors, and the soldiers (yes even the soldiers) responsible for these acts of violence. And yeah, even the girls.

I fully hope Hope Solo does pay the price, if she did assault her nephew. Hell it sounds like the whole family needs counseling. But to fire her reduces her ability to pay restitution, and to continue to help others by spreading the idea that, while violence is unacceptable, society and the victims are better served by changing the perp's actions, not putting him in jail, or firing him.

You do remember Ray Rice's now wife is pissed because his being fired fucks her just as badly as it fucks him, right? That's stupid. It's nobody's business but his and hers now. He went to court. He made arrangements to overcome his problems. If anything should be done, instead of suspension or firing, he should get mandated hours of public service. And maybe a public apology. And that should be the end of the story.
