The very first day of launch, and there is a lot of controversy about the airdrops. I, personally, was fine with it. Until I saw a streamer pull a land mine, a pistol, and an AR15 out of it.

Anyway, this is something the devs promised would not be the case. Thousands of people heard them say that this would not be pay2win. There is even a reddit post from the devs saying that it would not be pay2win.

I understand completely that you all worked very hard on this game. I'm sure we all appreciate this tremendously because the game looks absolutely amazing. However, I'm sure a lot of people are worried that this aspect of the game could ruin it. This is something I do not want to see, as i had a lot of hope for this game, and i'm sure many others did as well.

Selling cosmetics i'm sure would bring in a lot of money. Look at league of legends for example (yes i'm referring to league of legends). They sell skins for the champions, which is PURELY cosmetic. They don't give any boost what so ever in game. The same applies to H1Z1, i'm sure if there is enough of a variety of cosmetics to purchase, many people would buy them. You could also sell things like

  • Different skins you can use on weapons (i don't know how this would work, i'm just thinking of alternatives)
  • Maybe allow the player to pick where they spawn X amount of times
  • Could sell custom bases. Where the player gets to pick where on the server it gets put. Kind of like what Dayz Overpoch and Epoch does.
  • Could also sell pets once they are in.
  • Could pets that look differently then the normal ones

I don't know guys, these ideas may suck ass. I'm just trying to come up with some alternatives. Because i'm sure most of us can agree that we don't want Weapons of all things, falling from the sky into the hands of other players because they have more money to spend. Honestly, i'm fine with selling food and water. I couldn't care less. But when another player has a distinct advantage over combat because they have money. That's when it starts to bug me.

If you don't like the airdrops PLEASE SPEAK UP. The devs have been very good at listening to the community.

I'd be willing to bet dollars, that tomorrow that fat fuck will relase a statement saying it was just a "bug" when in reality it wasn't. They're just trying to pull one over on you and see what people will tolerate.

Also, don't forget to link information showing how SOE changed their business model right before they released the game. That's false advertising and it might help with the refund if steam support is being stubborn.

they never lie,they are not selling Gun,ammo,water or food. the airdrop can go from nothing in it to have a lot of supply. you can call it pay 2 lose tho , getting killed by other bandit/surviver trying to get what u pay for that (chest/airdrop)

What do people expect? This game has to make money and if it's going to be free to play then there has to be a incentive to buy airdrops. Guns are a big incentive.

Skins and other cosmetics are too, you don't need a leg up on other players just because you paid for something, and as for making money I'd say they've made a lot off everyone paying for EA already, and nobody can really even get in yet

air drops should not have weapons in them. ever. for any reason.

edit: IMO unless the "signal flare" is visible from across the map. and takes 15 minutes for the plane to arrive. for a "fair chance at loot"

Nether did this right. Everyone knew when a drop was going down and had enough time to respond to it. Granted you had to act fast, but it was fucking possible 100% of the way. If the developers actually made it fair to where these drops were delayed nicely. . .I'd love it. Let the guys blow money on provisions for the server. We'll all be there laying in wait to react. And unless that person is crafty then there is no way in hell they are walking away from it. This is how it should be. A big gamble.

I have no issue with Guns, ammo, everything randomly dropping in an air drop. It's random you might get lucky and get good stuff, you might get crap. I'm sure they will tweak the randomness to make rarer items pop less. But they aren't directly selling guns, ammo etc. If they allowed you to 100% buy these items then I can see this issue being valid. But these are random air drops that might help or hinder you.

If they keep it how it currently is I hope they make it so you can only call an airdrop once a day or something of the sort, because I don't want to have killed someone and come after me constantly just because they can call in airdrops.

I hope they also expand the loot tables for the airdrops to include more common items such as food and drinks and make the military items rarer from airdrops.

Love the concept of air drops, just need to be tweaked

All they need to do is have the player drop a flare that calls in the plane but it takes 5 minutes for the plane to get there, that way people have plenty of time to get to the flare and contest the airdrop

You people literally panicking riot in the streets style need to fucking chill 99% of players didn't manage to get in the game and the game has been in early access for a whole 4 hours

I 100% agree.... There is nothing survival about this game anymore. When i see a streamer start with a stick and is fully decked out within minutes.... Thats pay2win. They say it causes events of people to fight over it... Which is BS. you can go in the forest far far away and set one up. Only takes 30 seconds to drop.

Aren't the airdrop locations random? I thought the whole point was they dropped randomly, so the person who paid for them was paying for a server event rather than any advantage for himself.

Just total bullshit. This is why there is such a movement right now for gamers to stop preordering games. Don't give these shit devs your money until you actually can confirm that they delivered something that is at least sort of in line with what they promised. Unlike in this case, where we were all completely lied to about guns and ammo not being in airdrops. Literally 100% of the airdrops I have seen on stream so far contain at least one gun and some ammo.

Fuck this game, and fuck lying developers who will bold face lie to the very community that supports them.

There is no such thing as a hardcore survival game where airdrops full of gear fall right in front of you for money. End of story. Make an airdrop a huge event for the server and make it just as likely that others will end up with it or this will likely ruin the game.
