Apparently caring about offending Muslims is the same thing as caring about the sensibilities of murderers.

Apparently you cannot care about the lives of journalists without also offending Muslims.

Apparently the only way you can offend terrorists through political cartoons is to offend Muslims too.

Apparently if you are concerned about Islamophobia, then you are a murderer sympathizer.

How the hell are the mods of /r/SRSDiscussion fine with people equating Muslims with murderers? Am I taking crazy pills?

The worst part is the reply is:

"You can care about both, though. I mean, I just care about humans."

Which means that they affirm this equivalency. Which is replied with:

"I guess I should have been clear that I do not care at all for the sensibilities of murderers."

I'm the poster who replied. I definitely wasn't trying to affirm the above equivalency. I read that post quickly and interpreted "murderers" to mean only the three assailants, not any or all Muslims.

I hadn't been on reddit in a while and really needed to vent about Charlie Hebdo and the resulting Islamophobia a bit, being back in the States after spending four months in Islamic countries, so I only skimmed the OP and looking back now the comment made by /u/die_civ_scum looks way worse.

I would have hoped /r/SRSDiscussion was a safe place to drop in (the defaults are even worse than I could have imagined) and I'm definitely sad that I was wrong about that. And for my part, I'm sorry for ultimately contributing to it by posting quickly without understanding the context.

The worst part of all this comic bullshit isn't what actual Press entities have printed, it's how shitty people (Redditors) take this opportunity to make their OWN horribly offensive cartoons and hide their bigotry and hatred of others behind it.

Cartoons that are offensive to people entirely unrelated to Islam, such as images of the prophet in a dress (haha isn't wearing a dress as a boy super mock-worthy!?), or of him being raped by a guy/inanimate object (LGBT? what's that? Rape culture? What's that?), and so on and so forth.

I'm not saying anyone should ever be killed over satire or anything like that. But Charlie Ebdo have made a bunch of "edgy" cartoons, about a lot of things. People are treating this like the second coming of The Satanic Verses. (not defending the attackers, just pointing out something most redditors are not talking about.)
