I completely understand what you mean. As a woman, I find myself more and more judging men around me and noticing their sexism. I don't think it's a matter of being more prejudiced or more discriminatory, but rather discovering the world as it is. I feel that my eyes have been wide opened and that I see things closer to what they are: our society is deeply rooted in discrimination and the huge majority of privileged people have traces of prejudice in their speech and actions (myself included, and whether our heart is in the right place or not).

I've been trying to make more friendships with (straight) men because of this. I think if you have straight male friends you'll probably keep things in perspective.

I have male friends, but few, because I'm in a rather women dominated field of study. It might be that, I don't know.

I've always wondered, actually, whether a possible method for treating racist/sexist thinking is simply imposing more contact with those who are misperceived. I mean, considering that white americans seem to have very few social contacts with PoC, maybe the first big step would be forcing them to recognise PoCs' humanity through direct interaction.
