It was a group of 13, private, requiring acceptance into the group kind or privacy. One of the members threw the rest of them under the bus. For what I would love to ask him. What did he get out of it except the satisfaction of ruining 12 other lives. The whole thing is a tragedy of justice run amok. biffysmalls, we cannot be thought police or hold people to the crucible for things they say in jest to friends.

Yes we can. It was wrong and fucked up and not in jest unless you're fucked up also. Whoever the mole was, he or she did the right thing. Again though, there is nothing private once it is online. I wish you kids would live your lives with this in the back of your head. If you create a paper trail then it exists.

I am impressed you grew up and never said a careless thing. How is it being perfect?

You can say don't leave a paper trail but it is 2015. Social media is the medium for communication. The NSA has heard things a million times worse and done nothing. Ruining lives over for some horny teenagers comments is justified in your view, and that is sad.

It's my cross to bear.

I can say that because I've also never joked about violent sexual assault because I'm not a douchebag. That is what you are defending here: not the right to say or think things, but the right to go unscathed for saying anything. Markets don't work that way, people don't work that way.

Welcome to the real world.

Never? Oh boy. Okay.

[–]biffysmalls -1 ポイント0 ポイント  (11子コメント)

Correct, never. I'm sorry you surround yourself with asshats.

Bullshit.

You've never said "You got raped" when someone is defeated or loses memorably?

You've never said "Fuck Them", when you are extremely mad at someone.

Get off your high horse. You are the worst type of hypocrite commentator that is prevalent on /r/canada

No, sorry. Wasn't funny when I was 5. Isn't funny now.

The walking definition of holier than thou ladies and gentlemen!

It's my cross to bear, but I won't apologize for being a better human being than most.

A sheltered child welcoming people to the real world

Fucking rich

Sheltered?

That's hilarious, Tex.

So should oil companies be allowed to fire employees who like a comment by Greenpeace or who publically support a political party that their CEO does not support? You are trying to create a world were anyone who wants a job can't have an opinion.

[–]biffysmalls 4 ポイント5 ポイント  (5子コメント)

Irrespective of the fact that you are equating hate-fucking and liking a Greenpeace comment, as well as the quasi misogynistic straw man argument it represents...if that opinion is public, yes.

Everything has a price. I'm a public servant. I can hold whatever private opinions I choose about the government that I serve (Alberta), but if I express them publicly, that is grounds for termination if anyone cared, and that's a fair condition of employment. If I want to protest something I am morally opposed to, I can quit and do so. If I don't, then I'm saying that my paycheque is more important than the cause du jour, and that's fine. You, as a free individual have a choice to weigh the consequences and risk of your potential actions.

As far as creating that kind of world goes, I'm not creating it--I live in it. We both do, whether you'd like to admit it or not.

Maybe learn what hate fucking actual is before you try and destroy the kids lives.

Also you fail to understand that what is and is not offensive is totally arbitrary and based on the random whims of society. I'll never understand the mentality of wannabe McCarthys like yourself.

Uh huh. Perception is everything, kid. Like most here, you're missing the point of what context really means.

Choose your words wisely like the grown ups have been trying to teach you and you'll be better off.

Edit: Also, not quite Godwin's law, but close. Secondly, if you had a clue about what you're talking about or who you're talking to, you'd realize who hilariously inept that McCarthy comment really was LOL. I'm just sorry I didn't see it right away. I needed that laugh to get to sleep. Thanks.

I am not sure why you think I am a "kid" (I'm 29) and I've worked in corporate offices since I graduated. I have heard far, far worse things of out the mouths of VPs and even C-levels over alcohol fueled dinners.

Sorry, but the McCarthy comparison is well suited. The blacklist of people from industries for their political or social views is abhorrent and in no way condusive to an open society.

If anything though I feel sorry for you. You sound like you have a shit job and a miserable life.

[–]biffysmalls -3 ポイント-2 ポイント  (1子コメント)

LOL, sure thing kid.
