I'm pretty sure I'm wrong, but I don't know why. I'd like someone with religious beliefs to help me understand why what happenned in Paris is not directly the fault of Islam (or religion, to a larger extent). による CrazybutSolidにおいて DebateReligion

a) I don't think any religious person will allow your comparison of God to video games.

b) I'm not critizicing anyONE. I don't think people are to blame for this one. I' saying that God send a text that makes it too easy to commit a crime. And that sane, good people can do bad things, based on those texts.

Thank you for your analysis. I actually agree with it. Yes, crazy people will do stupid stuff and base it who knows what. Yes, it's unavoidable that texts are ambiguous, and yes, b is not true for all religions. You've changed my view. Can I give you a delta?

I can no longer assign fault to religion in general. I still think God sent out very crappy text to the religions that have one though.

Thanks.

Well, that's the thing man. If I take your sentence

No He didn't. The book is unambiguous that killing someone who are not waging war or committing murder, is the same as killing all of humanity and that nobody is allowed to do this.

What does "waging war" mean? These guys in Paris thought drawing Muhammed is waging war. And where did they get the idea from? Some hadith that says drawing him is forbidden. Are they wrong? If someone is directly disobeying something Islam dictates, is this person waging war on Islam? Where do you draw the line? Could God say "war means killing people" or something.

I guess I should read the Quran before I delve any further. But my point applies to all religions that have had people killing in the name of their God.

We have free will. Islam teaches people to think and apply logic. Even to question things.

This is cool. And I appreciate the free will thing. I know these are incidents and, compared to all deaths today, they're not that big of a number. But they are still deaths. And there are sections in the scriptures (I think hadiths, not Quran) that tell muslims to wage war on infidels. And kill them. I mean, damn man. Seeing innocent people get murdered and the murderer screaming God is great, is something that really sucks. And it's been happenning since the beginning of time, be it Islam, or other religions.

I don't know if you're a Muslim, but do you really think the Quran is the best God could have produced? or the Bible? or the Torah? It's so vague man. I don't know.

Noone deserves to die. I also condem police killings. They probably think they are doing the right thing. Like the terrorists. But terrorists think God is on their side, I don't know how many police men kill people and go "Christ is awesome" or Allahu Akbar.

I understand your point. I agree with it. But the fact that the Bible says gays suck gives an excuse to the WBC to do what they do. Just like some Muslim scripture (don't know if Quran or Hadiths) ask you to kill infidels and wage jihad. So since God didn't care to send his message clearly, he can't complain when we fuck up down here, or can he?
