I thought the joke was in the title about a person having both the titles "Muslim" and "Scientist" because those two don't mix realistically.

It's funny because Muslim scientists were actually responsible for a lot of scientific advancements back in the early days of Islam.

No they weren't. They weren't practicing muslims, they happened to be persian scientists living under muslim rule.

Was Einstein a jewish scientist or a scientist who happened to be jewish?

Even if these scientists were devoutly Muslim, they don't reflect upon modern Islam anywhere near as strongly as all of the anti -science fundementalism that dictates most modern Islamist nations.

So you're saying that none of the scientists of that time were actually "real" Muslims?

What about Alhazen, who was arguably the inventor of the modern scientific method? According to Wikipedia (which I'll admit isn't the most reliable source. I can try to find a more credible source if you really need me to), Alhazen was a devout Muslim. He described his beliefs by saying "I constantly sought knowledge and truth, and it became my belief that for gaining access to the effulgence and closeness to God, there is no better way than that of searching for truth and knowledge." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alhazen#Theology)

Sounds pretty Muslim to me.

Roger Bacon (1214–1294), an English thinker and experimenter, is recognized by many to be the father of modern scientific method.

Not saying Alhazen did not contribute but it seems he is not regarded as "the inventor of the modern scientific method".

That was probably bad wording on my part. He may not be credited with actually inventing the scientific method, but was responsible for introducing some concepts that are central to the scientific method, such as modern experimental techniques.

From the same article: "Ibn al-Haytham (Alhazen), 965–1039 Iraq. The Muslim scholar who is considered by some to be the father of modern scientific methodology due to his emphasis on experimental data and reproducibility of its results."

Even then, "Jewish" is an ethnicity, as well as a religion, so it's ambiguous to use it as an adjective.

Would Newton be a better example? Or literally anyone other than Aquinas and a handful of other scientists who were also deeply religious?

He happened to be atheist, but kept jewish customs.

And then they converted to islam

Maybe if you're fucking dumb they don't mix? Islam in doctrine says that Allah is a scientist and to discover things like evolution or any way the world works is to see the beauty of their creator.

And wait, you're telling me the doctrine has the exact same standards/definition of a scientist as modern scientists have it today? You're really telling me that as some half assed, salty excuse because the truth hurts?

Right, so that's what is happening with all these extremists? They're looking to learn and accept things in this world by killing those they can't accept? Yeah sure blame it on the extremists and say it's only those and every religion has extremists but not every religion has a majority of the members silently agreeing with what the fucking extremists are doing.

I sure would love a source on your claim the ambiguous 'they' all silently agree, especially when you look to all the different fractions of Islam.

Also I didn't speak on behalf of people, rather, explained that their book and teachings support scientific development.

But you're right, blaring racism is def the way to go. Because after all, apparently all Muslims are brain connected and already had the fucking singularity occur for them so they all agree on everything. What a load of horseshit.

Race has nothing to do with it, it just happens to be that a majority of Islam members are of middle eastern origin. Good thing I didn't mention race whatsoever and you brought it up first, otherwise what you said would have had SOME credibility behind it and wouldn't seem like some insecurity in which to blame others for.

Worlds most populous Muslim country is Indonesia. Most Muslims aren't 'middle eastern origin' whatever the fuck that means unless you're twisting geography to suit your ill purposes. Funny, I'd of thought such a big fan of science would know more facts.

You spoke on behalf of a silent majority, which I assumed you were speaking on the majority of Muslims, who are ethnically people of color. You don't get it both ways, pick one or the other.

Also instead of playing dumb, the Muslim identity is very racial. Especially in France.

But sure take that one end note and disregard everything else I said about you being fucking dumb.

Holy shit, you are so mad and incoherent. You think anyone can take you seriously with that many insecurities and snap judgements? I can already smell the spaghetti wanting to spill from your pockets.

Yes

Well I suggest u re-read your last post because you're replying to everyone's arguments with accusations that don't make sense and have been wrong so clearly you're the angry one. I feel sorry for you that you have such a closed mind and feel the need to attack people.

Really? They don't make sense? What are you, retarded?

62% of Muslims are from south/southeast Asia, so you're mistaken in regard to your first sentence.

This right here is the essence of it!! Well said

Well, a point there, hence they have 'Islam' since they can't be both at the same time..

Edit: I mean, if they could use critical thinking they would have dropped that nonsense long time ago..

No, pretty much the greatest 'Golden Age' in history happened inside the Muslim world, several centuries after the death of Mohammed.

The Dark Ages were actually bloody happening in Europe while real life Muslim scientists (more specifically, mathematicians) invented algebra, and spread the use of Indian Numerals and the number 0.
