If you aren't a lazy piece of shit, it is easy to get a new job. The only people I know who are out of work are the ones who sit around and smoke weed playing video games / have no motivation or drive in life and expect everything to be handed to them or fall in there lap. If you are a hard worker and are motivated it is simple to get a new job.

They hand out a few resumes a month and show up late to interviews with jeans and shitty clothing then bitch and whine about the economy sucking and it being hard to find work when they don't get a job. (I expect this comment to get downvoted to hell which will only prove my point since this website is a sinkhole for time and probably attracts a shit ton of these people who get angry at the truth).

Even if you fucked up early in life and didn't get a higher education I can go on monster.com or any website right now and find 20+ jobs for people with next to no skills or education required starting at 15+ dollars an hour working construction or labour intensive jobs but people are too lazy to do that shit because it is too hard work. Work a construction job here you usually get unemployment in the winter since its too cold for construction here and then take college courses throughout the winter to get a higher education and move to a less labour intensive job if you don't like it, unemployment even helps pay for education here, I am sure most countries have similar incentives to go to education if you are living of public assistance.

Edit: I am going to bed just ate left over turkey and put me in a food comba. If anyone actually wants to make something out of themself message me and I can help you put a plan together that will get you where you want to be within the next 4-5 years (of hard work) assuming it is a realistic goal (not a rock star or pro athlete or some shit). I turned my life around almost 10 years ago now in 4 years of work and learned a lot about public assistance programs, and a lot of services available to help you better your career no matter how bad of a situation you are in. There are TONS of companies looking for good sales people, a good sales person is SUPER hard to find and they love to hire people out of retail since they have experience dealing with customers. If you start off doing inside sales it is kind of shitty but you can work your way to outside sales which usually lands you a vehicle and a 6 figure salary but you need to WORK towards it.

What type of retail do you do, like I said if you have any decent references I can most likely get you an interview... I think some of our suppliers are located in Texas but even without me look on job websites for an inside sales position, there are always TONS of them. I just did a quick search on Google and see thousands of ads for inside sales in Texas.

If you land an inside sales job, work your ass off / inside sales is purely about numbers it is very easy for them to tell if you are doing good or bad and if you work hard and do good you will work your way up very quickly and since you work Retail you can probably talk to people well so you have a good chance of making it to outside sales which is WAAAY better... You make your own schedule and basically spend 99% of your time driving around meeting new customers / wining and dining people to make them happy, etc. If you are good enough you get a secretary to take care of the orders you just pass on to them.

Also, once you start off in sales you start to meet a lot of people from different companies, and if you are good at it you will get job offers coming out your ass and eventually you pick and choose the job you want / not the other way around, if you are good and bring in a lot of money they will pay you what you want to keep you because they know if they don't someone else will, but again you have to work your way to that point. (I don't do sales but I work closely with a lot of people who do and have seen first hand people start at 20k a year on probation and end up making 6 figures in under 4 years by working hard).

I was fucking shocked when I noticed how many people show up to interviews wearing shitty stained clothing / no combed hair, etc and then act shocked when we don't call them back or end the interview almost before they talk. I don't get what goes on in some peoples minds. Show up wearing a suit and be groomed / don't stink and act serious / speak proper English and you are ahead of 20-30% of applicants already.

I was helping ask some technical questions for one of the inside sales positions we were trying to fill and we had one guy come in with a wife beater and try to tell us what time he was going to work. He couldn't work too early because he gets hung over lots, weekends were a no no because that is when he likes to drink. I'm 99% sure he was just there to keep his welfare cheque coming, if you don't do enough interviews they drop you. There is no way he actually expected a job.

We have a policy to interview all applicants since my boss is a big believer in giving people second chances and usually has a good ability to gauge people from an interview and see how they will end up regardless of there educational background so we get some really trashy people.
