Alter: *is outspoken about being an alter, writes how they want to, reblogs their own interests, has there own blog e.t.c*

Tumblr: Fucking special snowflake you don't have DID. You're just making this up for attention. Alters are not fully developed people.

Alter: *Writes down who they are and what they do in an attempt to help their system and others understand them*

Tumblr: You wouldn't know you had alters if you really had a disorder. There's no way you could know that much about them. Fucking faker.

Alter: *gets scared and so hides, does not act like themselves, hides behind host's name or mimics them to avoid being spotted.*

Tumblr: How come your alters have stopped being so distinctive? Huh? Fucking liar. It should be obvious if you have alters to the outside world. People should know without having to be told. You are so obviously doing this for attention, you've stopped as soon as people called you out.

System: *Can't take the hate and constant accusations of faking and so leaves Tumbr for goo. Worse for wear and probably in danger due to doubt that is inherent in dissociative disorders being aggravated by all those comments from people who claim to know about DID.*

Tumblr: Knew they were faking, special snowflake. They are the literal scum of the earth. It would probably be better if they had died rather than just deleting their blog. How dare they pervert a debilitating mental disorder like DID.

Tumblr: No hate. Ableism is the worst, good job we never do it. Love you all!!!! Supporting community right here!!!!

New System comes along, and the cycle begins again.

Me to other alters: Do whatever you feel comfortable with. Hide if you need to, be outspoken if you want. Just never change for these people. They don't deserve your time. You'll never be right in their eyes, so just be you.

Me to the Tumblr psychology experts: Fuck off and find a new career path because you obviously unfit to help anyone with mental health.
