I thought this was clear. Arizona is very open about discriminating against hispanic people. Our sheriff is very open about his views and intentions.

SB 1070 had a large percentage of supporters here. Our Sheriff is in possible contempt of the court after being ordered by a judge to discontinue stings directed specifically at hispanics. My hometown PD (Chandler) has been sued and had a court rules against, for targeting latinos.

In fact, it specifically outlaws racial profiling.

I mean, I won't get into that argument. The courts have spoken regarding that issue. I'm speaking as to the general sentiment of LE in general, which you just reinforced.

No need to name call. I just said that specific point wasn't what I wanted to discuss. It is something that the courts have addressed and reason why the law wasn't put into place. I do not believe that was ignorant in any sense good sir. However, the quick to judge sense of superiority in a matter of opinion is part of what I am attempting to gain an understanding in.

You clearly are lacking knowledge in the wording of the law and what it allows and doesn't allow. I don't blame you, the propaganda machine was out in force making it seem like it allowed the police to just round up Mexicans.

I'm guessing OP is referring to law enforcement in his state having a reputation for getting a little overzealous with going after illegal immigrants, and I think there might be allegations that racial profiling is used to accomplish this. Maricopa County gets mentioned a lot regarding this. I think they also tried to pass a law that would basically allow LE to stop someone and ID them to find out if they were an illegal. This is just a guess, though. I don't really follow what happens in Arizona.

Yeah, I didn't really think that post through. What I meant was law enforcement is perceived to be abusing their power to go after illegal immigrants. With OP being a minority, he might have been stopped just to find out if he's in the country legally, or maybe he's afraid he will be, which might cause him to not trust LE. But I don't know what actually goes on with this, and I don't if this is even why OP doesn't trust cops.
