Let me give you an example. Marc Jacobs is a male designer, he makes great clothes and shoes and perfume. Women are his main, if not only, demographic. They are what fuels his wealth. Even if every one of his customers was a woman spending her husband's/boyfriend's money on his merchandise, he'd still be bankrupt without his female customers.
