「ジェームズ・ボンドは黒人じゃない！」次回作配役にイギリス地元紙のコメント欄が炎上

イギリスの諜報機関MI6に所属する敏腕スパイ「ジェームズ・ボンド」が主人公の「007」シリーズ。日本でも人気の高いこのシリーズの次回作で、イギリスの黒人俳優イドリス・エルバがジェームズ・ボンド役の候補にあがっていることが、ソニー・ピクチャーズの社内メールがリークされたことで、明らかになった。

しかしこのニュースに、ジェームズ・ボンドのふるさとであるイギリスの地元紙「デイリー・メール」の読者たちは、大混乱に陥った。

ジェームズ・ボンド役は、過去に少なくとも8人の俳優によって演じられてきたが、イギリスで最も愛されているこのスパイを黒人俳優が演じるかもしれないと聞いて、デイリー・メール紙の読者の中には、へそを曲げて激怒した人たちがいたのだ。

デイリー・メール紙のオンラインサイトに寄せられたコメントは、黒人と白人は異なる種族なのだと示唆しようとするものから、架空の人物であるジェームズ・ボンドと南アフリカ共和国元大統領のネルソン・マンデラをを同じ土俵にのせて語る人まで多岐に渡った。

こうしたコメントをした人たちが空想上の生き物で、実在する人間ではないことを、私たちは切に願う。


