    Why do you feel you have a right to something that's not yours, regardless of what the owner chooses to do with it? If I write a song and decide I'm only ever going to play it to a few friends, do you have rights to it?

    Rather than just dismissing or downvoting my comment, I'd actually like to hear a legitimate, reasoned justification. It's something that you rarely hear during these kinds of discussions, because the noise generated by the smug, self-entitlement of those who think they can take anything they want, always drowns out any discussion.

    Maybe because it is an entirely different situation? Nobody would know about your song that you only played for a few friends, except for you, your friends, and maybe a few people per person who told the others.

    This movie has been on every news site, paper, NPR, Facebook...we all know about it. We thought it wasn't going to released. It released. Now it will be watched.

    Also, since it is region locked, some people don't have the option to buy it, but they can download it. If they really wanted, they can just pay for it later when they have that choice. Why should someone miss out on something as simple as a movie, when millions of other people are able to watch it?

    Well I don't think antagonizing either side will help the discussion any. But if you were to write a song and only share it with a few friends, one of those friends then starts distributing it for free, and it is a great song, you can't really blame people for taking that free offer and enjoying it, as they had no way of giving you money for it anyway.

              I paid the 6 bucks to watch it and would suggest anyone who wants to support day-one digital releases to do the same. But I don't have any problem with people watching this if they don't want to.

              The movie was really funny. It wasn't great, but it made me laugh and I made a concerted effort not to hold it up to the legendary status everything around it raised it up to.

                                    I've liked a lot of what Goldberg and Rogan have done, but wasn't a big fan of Pineapple Express and while I didn't dislike The Interview as much, I got a bit of the same vibe from that as well. Odd tonal issues aside though, I did enjoy myself this morning as I started off my Christmas with The Interview.

                                    Not a great film by any stretch, I doubt I'll watch it a second time, but it didn't feel like I wasted my time either.

Whether Sony is experimenting or not, this is a test run for a digitally released movie. This digital release is only available in the U.S. Piracy within the U.S. for this film is one thing, but not releasing it internationally is just asking for people to pirate it elsewhere.

                                                                              I remember when Final Fantasy XIII came out I drove 20 miles to the only target in the area that had one. Bought it, got it home, opened it and the box was empty...

                                                                              I took it to my local Target who said in that case I had to take it back to the same Target. This statement on it's own I know is bullshit, that store just didn't want to take the hit on shrink for that game. So I drove all the way back, nervous they were going to tell me no. I got there and showed them and they said oh great, but five minutes later I walked out with a game with the game in the box.

                                                                              I now always open the box, even if it's a gift and if the giftee asks I tell them this story and they totally understand.

                                                                              This whole story gets worse when you know how much work this took and how shitty a game FF XIII is...

                                                                              TL;DR Bought game at a far away target, didn't have game in box, stressful trip to multiple targets to return and get one with the game in the box...
