Sign out of Chrome

You should sign out (or disconnect) your Google Account when:

  • You no longer want changes you make on your computer to be saved to your Google Account and synced to Google Chrome on your other devices.
  • You think there's an error with Chrome sync and want to fix the error by disconnecting and then signing in again.

To sign out of Chrome:

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu icon Chrome menu.
  2. Select Signed in as <your email address>.
  3. In the "Sign in" section, click Disconnect your Google Account. A confirmation dialog will appear.
  4. Decide whether you want to keep your account history, bookmarks, settings, and other Chrome data saved on the computer. If not, check the box to clear this data.
  5. Click Disconnect account.

Delete a user

You should delete your user profile when:

  • You mistakenly signed in to a public computer.
  • You notice a stranger is logged in to Chrome on a public computer and you want to help protect their account.

To delete a user:

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, Click the Chrome menu icon Chrome menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the “Users” section, select the user that you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete. Alternatively, you can click the X icon to the right of the user. If there is only one user, you will see a Delete this user button instead.
  5. In the confirmation dialog that appears, click Delete.
Before deleting a user, make sure it's okay to do so. You cannot undelete.

You should delete synced data from your Google Account when:

  • You want to delete all your synced data from Google's servers and disconnect your Google Account from all computers and devices you've signed in to.
  • You mistakenly sign in to a friend's computer and you don't want to sync your data to that computer.
  • You want to stop using sync altogether.
  • You want to change or remove your sync passphrase.

To delete synced data from your Google Account:

  1. Open your Google Dashboard. Make sure you are signed in to your Google Account.
  2. Click Stop and Clear to stop syncing and clear all of your synced data.
  3. Click OK.

You only need to do this once. It will stop sync on all of your devices.
