I'm going to be a teacher, working 80 hour weeks some weeks with a 4 year degree ... making 30k out of college. It doesn't matter how hard I work, I can not get paid that kind of money AND do what I love.

You will not work 80 hour weeks. You're already believing your own bullshit. Take it from someone that actually does work 80+ hour weeks. The doing what you live part is important.

Nah, working 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 5 days a week, weekends around finals time, grading papers, tests, and other professional development included. Not to mention lesson planning, submission of all the other bullshit that the administration puts in front of you, etc.

Nah, i'll never work an 80 hour week.

You won't.

And "professional development" isn't unique to teachers. In fact teachers don't tend to be very evolved, interesting, intellectually curious, etc. grading papers is not work. Plus I guess you'll be the only teacher in the world without a TA.

The world needs teachers.... But your not even a teacher and you're borderline complaining already. Please never get invited to one of my parties.

Damn, lots of hours! You're good at rounding up. Either way, I hope you at least get a week or two off during the year to sit back and relax.

Plus, you make an excellent point.... Why do people work?? Is it love, or is it money?

I work for cash - so you better fucking pay me - a lot.

Teachers KNOW the deal going in... School, potentially low pay to start (you should move).... Then some of the benefits of tenure, and summer opportunities....

So since they know the deal going in.... And live the job.... You'd think they could shut the fuck up about it.

Teachers: quit complaining. Your job is not hard. You chose it. You can leave at any time.

your job is not hard.

Lol, okay bud. See if you can last a week in a school with a full-blown race war going on.

Has anyone ever mentioned you're a dick? Because you're a dick.

And..... Sure fire way to know when you've lost an argument? Call the other guy a dick.

I am.

I am a dick that's laughing at you... Thinks little of you.... Etc.

Merry Christmas

I mean, it definitely depends on what you mean by hard. I've had a lot of teachers in my life, and I would be willing to bet that less than half of them worked 'hard'. Many just taught directly out of a book and had aides to grade papers and whatnot. If you're doing that, it doesn't matter if you 'work' every waking second of the day, I wouldn't call it hard.

Granted there are a lot of teachers that go the extra mile, but the profession itself does not automatically indicate hard work.

Also can I just say... if you're this bitter now, holy shit I would love to see what you're going to be like in 20 years.

Oh so it's low pay, too many hours, and now race wars? Lol. Complain that you lack the skills, desire and / or are afraid of having a real job.

Complain complain complain complain. Yup. You're a teacher alright!!!

When you choose shit - you should not complain about the smell.

I never complain about my career - ever. I work for MONEY - I am great at what I do. Every person I've ever worked for knows I expect to be paid top dollar. Why?? Because I'm not there to love it. I'm there to make exceedingly difficult decisions and execute flawlessly. I hate my job - and I'm proud of it. Saying it out loud here is the closest I'll ever get to complaining. I make really fucking good money - and I completely bust my ass to do it.

Why complain about pay? Just find another job if pay is important to you. Afraid you'll have to work for a living???
