Hackers Threaten to Release Iggy Azalea Sex Tape

So this Iggy Azalea–Azealia Banks beef is spinning out of control. Hackers posting under the Twitter handle @TheAnonMessage jumped into the fray Friday night, threatening to release still images from an alleged sex tape of Iggy Azalea unless she publicly apologizes to Azealia Banks and the protesters of the #blacklivesmatter movement. The account posted a string of tweets last night saying they would bring Iggy Azalea down further than Bill Cosby, calling her a " trashy bitch" and promising "a life of suffering" unless she complies with their demands.

We have so much shit on you, your scandal would be bigger than Bill Cosby's.

MESSAGE: @IGGYAZALEA, you have exactly 48 hours from now to release a statement apologizing to @AzealiaBanks and the protesters in NYC...

You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner's death. @IGGYAZALEA

There's an X rated tape of you, we bet you'd certainly don't want public, are we right? @IGGYAZALEA....and this is nothing. Comply or else.

YOU MIGHT BE A NARCISSIST IF you get behind a faceless armature of a 'movement' that pranks people out of shame and envy and youre surprised when it doesnt stand for all of your ideals

I don't like her but Anon lost my respect with this. It is misogynistic actually. SO, you're not for all the people. And what does she have to apologize for? I haven't found any insults to Banks please enlighten me.

I guess someone got seriously peeved at her comments...It's just one person in my opinion, although being a public figure does give the slight possibility that her opinion can influence a great many people.

If you know anything about Anonymous it that anybody can be a member. There is no single organization or group.  @TheAnonMessage do not need to part of the 'real anonymous' as this group does not exist. In other words there is no 'real anonymous' as 'anonymous'  itself is an concept not a single group of hackers.

@jordan.stanley I understand what you are trying to say, however the ORIGINAL ANNON would not stoop so low as to start feuding with celebrities. They have much more important matters on their plate such as a teen burned over 98% of her body and the police not doing anything about it? There is many out there that believe that they are part of ANNON as it is not a group with  a memebership but their goals are obviously different.

@jordan.stanley People seem to be forgetting that Anonymous originated off of 4chan's board /b/. In the beginning, Anonymous was a small non-profit organization. They stood up for the things they believed as a whole, though others would always rise to disagree. However, in my opinion, Anonymous has gone downhill from what they originally stood for. The last real riot they did that wasn't influenced by money and the media was when they attacked the Church of Scientology. Personally, I believe that Anonymous was better when they were that small organization that nobody had heard of.

Don't think that's the "official anonymous" twitter... And even if it is, why is it okay for them to Black-Mail someone, just because they don't like what she said? Whether we agree with her or not, she still has the right to her beliefs. Freedom of Speech is still a thing in America.

#FirstAmendmentAnyone?

@Imiko Well, maybe if you bitched more about North Korea being able to dictate what is shown in your theaters and less about the free speech of a twit celebrity, maybe we wouldn't be here.

Seriously, priorities, people.
.
Frank.Castle
Frank.Castle 5ptsEditors' Pick
@jason.jackson It's idiots like you, who fail to realize that all speech should be protected, from North Korea's attempts to censor all the way to some "twit celebrity" (by the way, the "dictating" they did directly related to "twit celebrit[ies]" so...) who are as big a problem as censorship is, itself.

ALL speech matters. Free Speech, as a concept, as an idealogy, as a right, and as a rule, encompasses ALL speech, or none. To fight for one is no more noble than to fight for another.

The fact that this article hasn't been edited to say @TheAnonMessage isn't Anonymous shows this is all about trashing people and groups for the sake of site traffic and ad revenue.

Wow. Of all the great injustices in the world the one battle they choose to get involved in is a rapper fued? I thought they wanted the world to take them seriously. Didn't a bunch of them go to jail? Is the B squad running things now?

@bobhey @whodatjormp I'd say it's a fair question.  Anon makes a serious miscalculation here, in that Iggy has built her entire career upon being trashy and controversial.  They're feeding it, by making her more controversial.  If they release her tape, they just make her look trashy.  How is this a threat?

The general consensus I've found among various Anon points of contact is that they do NOT stand behind @TheAnonMessage in this. This is childish and petty and goes far off message. Don't buy into the easily packaged headline, this isn't what Anonymous is all about.

It would amuse me to no end if she simply took the alleged sex tape and released it herself. They lose leverage, and have to rethink their threats. But I don't think Ms. Azalea is that smart.

But should they release her alleged tape, in partial or full, it likely won't hurt Azalea's career, and more likely will draw the ire of multiple groups, including feminists and humanist- some of which are likely in anonymous themselves.

Harassing a celebrity for callously disregarding recent events for added infamy (something many celebs are known to do) seems rather pointless.

Agreed. Isn't releasing that tape basically a kind of sexual violation? Seems like an ugly resort to take simply because they want to get their foot in the door of a rapper turf fight.

@zach.harmon  If she were getting blackmailed for just about any other offense, then yes, she should just put it out there. Like when David Letterman admitted live on-air that he had an affair with a staffer.
But I don't think the reason she doesn't go ahead and release it herself is because she's not "smart" enough. It's probably because she doesn't want a sex tape of herself released for public viewing!

@zach.harmon I don't think Azalea can make a bad choice, here.  Her entire public persona is about being controversial and trashy.  If her sex tape leaks (from her or someone else), it will just reinforce what she's already put out there.

For her, there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

WTF anonymous. You can't fight racism with sexism. This is such a facepalm moment.

In Anon's defense, Anonymous is anonymous. there is no leader. Just hackers who meet up and organize. It's not democratic either. So this just sounds like a few rogue anons getting pissed off. But the thing is anyone can use the name anonymous if they want. Anyone can buy a Guy Falkes mask if they want. There is no copyright. So the entire group shouldn't be written off just for this (and a few other) missteps.

@ilde.furtado Also in Anonymous's defense, THIS THREAT WAS NOT POSTED BY ANONYMOUS.  As approximately twelve million previous comments have noted (and as should be noted in the article itself) this is some wannabe outfit trying to appear to be Anonymous.

So THIS is what Anon chooses to use its time on? Now THEY have become the harassers...for what? Nobody gives two cents about what Iggy Azalea thinks or does. Meanwhile HUNDREDS of people are blowing up the ANON forums asking wtf they have done NOTHING regarding the cyberattacks on sony and our media. Anon refuses to answer. Instead they are busy cussing out females and wasting time on stupid crap that does NOT matter. Like posting the top songs used for torturing. This benefits us how?? ANON has apparently forgotten what and who they stand FOR...now its just a platform for their own personal vendetta's to be played out on. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

I was over Anon and their shenanigans years ago. Lately I've started to respect them a little bit. After this, I'm back at being over them. I'm sorry but this is petty crap. Back in the day rappers had it out on their respective albums.. in 2014, hackers pick a side and get involved.
I honestly couldn't care less what Iggy has said that was inappropriate. We're adults, get over it. Stop being so sensitive. This is turning into a country of whiny cry-babies.. WAAAHHH SHE SAID SOMETHING MEAN.. WAHHH.
For the record I'm not a fan of either of these women. I'm just SO TIRED OF THE SENSITIVITY CRAP.

I probably agree with the message, I'm not sure what it is, but I don't agree with the methods.  Hacking for the lulz is one thing, getting political and blackmail is another.  Anonymous has turned into Maury Povich unleashed.
