Suspected Resident Evil 4 Speedrun Cheater,` link and info in comments (self.speedrun)

This video of a NG+ speedrun on PS3 was posted on youtube today by RadicalDreamer of a segmented run in 1:23:48, claiming it to be a WR(with his PB supposedly being 1:22:15). This is highly unlikely, as the previous WR was (and still is in the official standings) 1:26:49. The entire video length is 1:37:47, and file loading times cannot take up 15 minutes of a segmented run.

The run is fine up until chapter 4-1, where his time is about 3 minutes ahead of where a normal time usually is, and he uses the same route used in current runs, while even making mistakes, which should cause him to lose time. The length in the video timeline is much longer than the save time in the game file.

Yeah I just got done watching the 4-1 save and that was definitely messed with. It went from something like 38:26 to 42:14. I think he might of cut more than 3 minutes, but the actually time cut doesn't really matter. Has this been brought up to other RE4 runners on other sites?

About an hour it was posted, me and a couple of other runners watched it together over Skype, and agree it's definitely not real. We haven't talked about it anywhere besides among ourselves and here, obviously, but we're also trying to figure out what we should do about it.

I mean, if you just use basic math, you can tell that the time the game file said he spent on 4-1 was approx 5 minutes, where as the gameplay in the video is 10+ minutes. Doesn't he need to explain why this is?

Not sure now RE4 works, but if cut scenes don't count as in-game time, is it possible that there could be a bug that doesn't start the in-game timer when you quickly skip a cut scene? Never played it before, not sure on how the game timer works.

Cyberdemon does raise a good point though . Video was posted today and cheating is serious, but this seems more like a witch hunt since this was so quickly put to reddit

I'm really not trying to start a witch hunt or anything, just trying to let people know that this proclaimed WR is potentially fake, and as this game and its community have received a lot of negativity in the past, we really don't want false runs becoming the standard for the game.

Have you talked to him about it? I really dislike the idea of trying to out a cheater on a public forum like this. If this guy's run is legit, we'll come out on the other end with his name being tarnished. I'd recommend that these kind of posts not be allowed on this subreddit. Reddit has a tendency to start witch hunts over things like this, especially since he likely has no voice on this subreddit and can not defend himself.

For all we know, you two had some kind of falling out and you're trying to ruin his name. There are any number of backstories that could cause you to want to make this guy look bad. I'm not saying that this is the case here, but it's not out of the question.

Maybe it's just a mistake with calculating the time.

I was thinking that, but the timer at the end of the game shows 1:23:48 as well. Even if it was a mistake, that would be no reason to be deleting comments asking what's going on with the time, which he has been doing.
