I'm frustrated about it. I've seen a lot of dogs die this way (mostly barn dogs) and it's really upsetting to know that people are either too ashamed, too lazy, or too ignorant to know when to call the vet. People run for the phone the second their toddler hiccups, but their dog can puke for five hours straight and they won't think twice about just waiting it out. That's fucked up.

If you want to call me a dick for being passionate about avoiding that, though, that's cool.

So you think chastising them into not asking is going to somehow elevate them out of their ignorance? If you want to be passionate about actually helping animals then create some thing for the side bar that people can look at to help them decide, don't just come in here and assert that no one has a right to ask questions.

In the end this shaming post may end up hurting dogs, way to go!

Uh? I didn't shame anyone, I added a ton of resources for people to use in the future which could totally go into the sidebar, and I never chastised anyone for asking questions only on asking questions here INSTEAD OF using other, immediate resources, and thereby wasting valuable time which could wind up hurting the animal in question.

Reread the post, I never said anything of the sort.

That entire post comes off as shaming and critical, if you can't see that then there is nothing more to be done with you. This is exactly the kind of post that is going to stop someone from asking a question that we may be able to answer and some poor dog will suffer for it.

I hope you understand that this post hurts this sub. The other posters were right, you are a dick.
