I'll be your friend if you refund everyone's money

why would i consider this unless the arcade was making a ton of money and warranted that? please discuss.

[–]Drfunks 12 ポイント13 ポイント  (15子コメント)

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the kickstarter for renovations to improve SA? Or are you saying it was a donation drive to keep the arcade open to pay your bills. It seems every time I hear about "I never beg for shit" it's always followed by a sob story about how you need money for X thing.

What's next? Are you going to start another donation drive to help improve your next location? Or will you wait a while (6+months) for people to forget that you're a scammer or grossly incompetent at running a business.

correct me if im wrong. did super arcade not improve? ........ people need to seriously get a grip and realize that there will still be a renovated arcade in place and it will have a bunch of cabs along with a ton of console set ups to run our tournaments.......

Look, I don't have a particular beef with you OK? You can't have it both ways here. Any smart business owner knows never to renovate unless they can get an affordable lease to reap the rewards of the improvements. Asking people for money on a place you could get kicked out of next month is grossly short sighted and you gotta own up to that instead of trying to play the victim here.

Nobody is perfect, out of the respect for people who donated you should just man up to it. By continuously trying to shift the blame elsewhere, you're just shitting on what little credibility you have left. I hope your new location works out (not being sarcastic here), that said in your shoes I'd stick to airing petty grievances on your blog instead of asking for money for a long time.

He probably told the landlord to fuck off in a tantrum which is how Watts makes every "business" decision (see also: split with levelup)

see split with level up lol........ if only the world could handle the real truth. or if you could pay attention when it is told to you.

I keep checking back to see if he'll respond to these exact remarks, also made by many others in multiple threads, but he never does. I wish he'd just admit that he lacked foresight and offered at least a small apology instead of shifting blame, oh wells.

[–]oldmanwatts -3 ポイント-2 ポイント  (7子コメント)

how did i shift blame? i actually stayed up till 7am thinking about new plans etc. whats my lack of foresight? i obviously have a backup plan with all this current crap that has taken place and the fgc will still have an arcade at their disposal.

This is what you said in an interview:

Velociraptor: I suppose the first thing we have to ask is, why is Super moving and why so suddenly?

Watson: I was already having issues with the landlord and they really wanted my to sign a long term contract with them. I was on a month to month lease which is very hard to come by, but that was being canceled and a new lease had to be hashed out. Im assuming due to our recent remodel they figured they could bully me into signing something I wasnt comfortable with so this is where we stand now

These are your own words. Nobody is spinning anything. You never ever invest any serious type of renovation unless you have the favorable lease to make back the money you're pouring in. You don't ask people for money and then hope for your landlord to be nice to you. This is business, you lost all leverage the moment you dumped money into the place while being month to month.

It doesn't matter that "most" (w/e amount that is from the 57K) is salvageable since it's hardware upgrades, the point is you messed up by lacking the foresight. If it was your plan to move location to begin with then you should have stated on your kickstarer "Hey guys, we're month to month btw and there's a chance even after you guys give me money we'll be moving location". Which I find highly unlikely.

All it takes is "Sorry guys, this one's on me you live and learn life lessons and now I know. Let's move on to the new location and try to make it even better than before." but instead you came out with a: "Wah that piece of shit landlord butt fucked us, wah why does bad shit always happen to me, wah wah wah". Not exactly your words but see the difference here? That's not manning up, that's acting like a bitch.

i actually said during our "press conference" that i wasnt mad at the landlord and business is business. but you can make your own assumptions. i am salvaging the situation and not playing the victim by any means. things turned out the way they did and i didnt hide from it or try to hide it for that matter...... i will be working on the new spot asap and you can say im acting like a bitch all you want. dont matter to me man.

[–]oldmanwatts -4 ポイント-3 ポイント  (1子コメント)

i did man up. as soon as there was a real issue and things were happening i told the world asap. i was shitted on for telling people asap without further knowledge but at that time its all i had to go by. now im working on making things work somewhere else as you stated and i also stated i will never ever do another kickstarter cause its extremely depressing and humbling.

...You can get a little carried away here and there, but I like you. However, letting everybody know what happened right away isn't exactly the "manning up" people are telling you to do. They're saying you need to admit that you yourself fucked up.
