Anonymous asked: In response, Mod F, do you guys give or suggest resources for those kinds of people to get help? If you can't listen to a conversation that food comes up in, that is a serious problem. I'm not shaming those people or hating on them, I am concerned to hear that people can't handle topics of such common things, especially a substance that sustains life. I really hope those people find some help, because my heart breaks to learn about that specific of a trigger.

we don’t offer resources for people because i don’t want to suggest that people with triggers need to be “fixed” and, chances are, if they want to get rid of their trigger, they are finding resources to help themselves. i appreciate your concern, but i don’t want to force help upon people who don’t need or don’t want it.

Anonymous asked: honestly curious: how is "around 2:55, Arin describes the rolling up of the gingerbread house as 'fricking insanity'" ableist?

yes, “insane” is an ableist slur.

Anonymous asked: I get it. There are people out there with actual issues that a heads-up would benefit them. But some of these warnings sound really strange. Like, who are the people who need warnings about people talking about food? Stuff like that makes people with tragic issues seem like "fakers" or "too whiny" or something like that. What are the factors that require a subject to be labeled as an appropriate "trigger" outside of the usual or common?

food triggers usually involve people with eating disorders being uncomfortable with food. triggers affect all kinds of people, not just people who have suffered especially tragic circumstances. a trigger is something that “triggers” an especially negative response in someone, such as a flashback or a panic attack in certain circumstances.

Anonymous asked: have you ever thought that your detailed descriptions of triggers may actually be triggering people?

It might, but it might also help with context. It all depends on the situation, friend.

Anonymous asked: It makes me pretty sad to see all the hate flowing your way. You guys are awesome. I've never been particularly averse to anything the Grumps have talked about on their show, but I feel for people with very real negative reactions to certain kinds of content, and it saddens me that people feel the need to attack other people for so much as being sensitive to those topics. Thanks for making the Grumps' show more accessible to those people. Rock on!

someone linked us on reddit, that’s where the sudden influx has come from haha. thank you so much for the kind words!

Anonymous asked: I have a major fear of most insects and spiders (mostly spiders). I would greatly appreciate if you take this into consideration when writing your warnings for each episode, it would really help me.

Of course! We’ll be sure to tag with insect warnings!
