The problem here is that I'll be in the left lane, already doing 5 over the speed limit, and then someone will still be up my ass. I'd like to get over, but they get over first and start creeping by. If you'd just wait a second, I'd get over. I'd drive faster, but I'm not getting another ticket for doing 10+ over the limit.

If you see them coming up, put your blinker on before they switch lanes to let them know you see them and plan to move over. It's not hard.

I am right there too - 45 inbound from North Houston. I am doing 75 or so, when possible, to get to the HOV lane. There is nowhere to go at 545 AM. You want to go faster and pass me? Go ahead, you will soon see me pass you again because you thought you could go faster in the next lane. Just be a little more patient.

If you're going speed limit/speed limit +5 on a highway you have no business in the left most lane in the first place. If you're talking about residential roads then yea they're being jerks.

I want to do 5 over. I'd love to do 10-15 over, but I'm not going to get my insurance revoked at pay all of my disposable income on speeding tickets. The lanes further to the right are doing the speed limit or under. If I'm doing 5 over, that's more than is going to benefit you. You're just going to hit traffic sooner or later and everyone is going to catch up anyway. You're an idiot if you think you are getting ahead inside the loop by going more than 5 over the speed limit.

Then pass and get back over. In some states, you'll get a ticket for getting passed on the right, no matter how fast you or them will be going, so call me an idiot all you want... you're just an asshole if you are using the passing lane for going only 5 over the speed limit.

It's like I'm being yelled at for not robbing stores at gun point or something. 5 over is even technically illegal, but just gets by because of radar inaccuracy and the reality that perfectly holding a speed is impossible. If you'll agree to pay my speeding tickets, I'll do fucking 90. You willing to do that? No? FUCK YOURSELF.

If you can't keep up with traffic, why are you in the passing lane? Move over to the right, and cruise there. If you're going slower than the flow if traffic, move to the right most lane. It's for everyone's safety.

I am fucking going faster than traffic you dumb fuck. The right lanes are doing the speed limit or under, I'm doing 5 over. Just because you want to do 20 over doesn't mean you get to and the cop sitting at the bottom of the hill with his radar gun will agree with me. Pay my tickets for me and I'll go as fast as you want.

75 is reasonably fast on a highway. 65-70 is more than fine too in all but the passing lane (fast lane). Sure there's exceptions when there's a left exit etc. Passing on the right is more dangerous and people that drive the speed limit or just a hair over the speed limit in the left seem to incite road rage in idiots. My point is only that if you fall in that ~5mph over it's safer for everyone to be one lane over to the right. Heck if you're going 75+ and could be doing that in the right lane without overtaking people to your left than that's where you should be anyway.

Here's your problem. If you're not hogging the left lane to begin with, they'll just pass you and move to the right. Traffic is flowing, people have some where to pass, you're not stressed out, everyone is happy.

I don't want to go the speed limit or below, I want to go as fast as possible, but I'm not going to do more than 5 over and get a ticket. Cops pull people over everywhere, the free for all is over. If you pay my tickets, I'll go as fast as you want. If not, fuck yourself.
