That shouldn't stop him from actually finishing the game for the people that payed for it you know, he promised people something and he should've delivered.

The "assholes" you are talking about are not a reason for him to ditch the entire project and just moved on. It's pretty sad to be honest I mean he made a zombie survival game and the zombies don't even work, and left before the beta..

I agree he should have let the community know a while beforehand, and that he reacted in a very immature fashion when he quitted Reddit. But I am tired of people expecting "fun features" to have priority during an alpha phase.

At the same time though we don't know that he's 100% out the door, as in yesterday he turned in his badge and that's it. It wouldn't shock me to see him in a consulting role. Not that that's happening...just that it wouldn't shock me.

Flip side of that: given a two week early warning; I don't think anything wouldve been different.

you dont think dean's been phasing himself out for a long time? do you think that because you bought the game you also bought dean and can make him live 1,000s of miles from his family until the game is completed?

he said he would be leaving when he felt that the game was going in the right direction and he was no longer needed

i dont think a man who is no longer vital to a project leaving said project to see the family that hes only seen for a week or two at a time maximum in several years is such a dick move and I dont think the game is going to fall apart now that hes out the door either.

Just because I don't have citations and just because you haven't read/heard it doesn't mean its conjecture.

But just so you know: I do know. It's not a guess. Take my word for it or don't. The moment you come to a sub dedicated to a thing then start calling people a fanboy for supporting and loving that thing I lose all respect for you. Maybe you didn't notice but this is /r/dayz generally speaking many of us enjoy this game so naturally we are going to defend it. I wouldn't show up at the country music awards to bitch about country music so I'd appreciate it if others showed this place the same respect and courtesy.

I don't see this. What I see is:

Which is totally true. He says it right there. THIS SUB perpetuated that MYTH not Dean, not BI, this sub. If he took what a bunch of people said on the internet as the god's honest truth then its on him and the people who spread that myth when that doesn't come true, not anyone else.

If there is militant fanboyism (and I'm not saying there isn't) then there is just as much of the polar opposite. Honestly, the "militant fanboys" aren't that bad. They come to a sub that promotes a game that they like and willingly defend that game and its developers on that sub. Whats wrong with this? If I go to a comic book convention and someone shows up saying comic books are shit I'm totally within logical reason to defend them. I mean hell, its a comic book convention.

But when the shitposters and dayz haters come here just to do that, well they aren't contributing, they aren't having a conversation, they are just coming here to rant and bash on a game that many of us enjoy. I don't necessarily agree with zealous fanboyism but I certainly don't agree with the alternative.

That's just the thing. There are many, many top comments and threads that are anything but "militant fanboyism". There is never a shortage of dissenting opinion around here and I'd love to see someone prove me otherwise. What gets burried are people who come here to aggressively attack the game and have no regard for it being in alpha. They're either doing it just to bitch, to troll, or just because they hate the game that much. Either way this is a DayZ fan site and expecting anything other than downvotes is foolish when your only object is to rip on the thing this fan site revolves around.

Unfortunately "wild analogy" is sometimes the only way to get people to understand. How is it a wild analogy? This is a fan site (like a comic book convention...ya know...a place people gather to share their enjoyment of a thing). IDK maybe in your country they don't teach analogy, metaphor, and simile comprehension (serious question)?
