So I've been deopped without warning or notice by /u/outsider. I still have modmail access, though, so I'm going to just dump everything I've got. As a result, he does not deserve the respect of having any of his bullshit kept private anymore.
The tl;dr of it is that there is a war going on between /u/outsider and /u/brucemo and the rest of the modsquad. The outsider/Bruce tag team has been allowing a number of abusive users to run amok on the subreddit, interfering with moderator efforts to ban or otherwise remove them.
Most recently, the problematic user has been one we refer to as Mr. Brooks, as that was the first username we knew him as. Today, he's /u/john_10. He's an 18-year-old bipolar kid who has come to hold Reformed Baptist beliefs (we won't discuss the issue of how those beliefs don't really mesh well together or mock him--he's got problems) who cannot abide Catholics (at least in part because he was raised Catholic). He will not stop using anti-Catholic slurs. Even on non-Catholic topics, he's downvoted into oblivion. You'd think he'd be a troll, right?
NOPE! /u/Outsider has been "working with him", independent of the modsquad and is doing everything in his power to stop anyone wanting to ban Brooks.
Brooks wanted on the approved submitter list because of his low comment karma. We told him why not.
Someone finally banned Brooks. This stuck until it was revealed that Outsider had been moderating without the knowledge or consent of the modsquad.
Brooks is still fighting it in modmail. Part 1 Part 2.
On Friday, we had a discussion at brokehugs. I'll just give a screenshot because if brokehugs gets linked here, it goes invisible. It was juicy, and revolved around bad theology on the part of a few posters at /r/reformed (where there was drama but it got removed). [This](i.imgur.com/AjxYOi0.png) is the main thread. This is the part that got me deopped on /r/Christianity (a separate subreddit from Brokehugs). This provides a little more of injoy showing her persecution complex.
Now has the modsquad been antagonistic towards /u/injoy and /u/Dying_Daily (both Reformed Baptists, but no relation to Mr. Brooks)? Yes. Yes it has. There's plenty of bad blood to go around.
And then I got deopped without warning or notice. for my involvement in the brokehugs thread and this modmail thread about the same thing.
As a last bit of drama, /r/Christianity has a bot that helps remove blogspam and provides a shadowban functionality for users that evade bans until such time as the admins deal with them. /u/Brucemo wrote it. Then /u/brucemo decided that it wasn't appropriate for that functionality to operate. Then he decided to turn it back on. The rest of the mods were confused, and there was slapfighting about bot use.
tl;dr: War has broken out between the /r/Christianity mods. I'm apparently the first casualty. The people who benefit are you, popcorn lovers.
