Is this a joke?

No.

To my fellow Russians: Are you ashamed of your behaviour? What are YOU doing in order to stop yourself from intentionally ruining games?

This is shameful behavior. Bashing on a people because of a language barrier or nationality... There's a lot of bad players on NA that are english speakers but why don't we talk about them too?

However, I'd suggest server locks based off of the client like League does. This does however deny the ability for different regions to play each other. Not that it matters to NA much because European ping for us is extremely terrible if you're not on the east coast or equivalent. Though my opinion is reserved, others may feel differently.

I don't see why it's a shameful behaviour. We all know the game is lost as soon as we see Russian text in the chat when the game begins. However, I like your locked servers-idea.

No the demeanor that you used was inappropriate in my opinion, however I understand where you're coming from. I just don't agree that when you generalize Russians like that where I have a fellow player who is Russian and a good player.

So we're not allowed to talk about the 99% of the russian players in Strife? What should we call them instead of russians, "you know who"?
Now we're back at square one, how do we deal with the problems of "you know who"?

I think I just had some Russians in my game, but the most toxic and arrogant one was an english speaking player who called everyone noobs, then proceeded to actually be less than stellar and eventually wandered the jungle waiting for us to lose. The 'Russians' were actually trying to win, even though one of them was clearly very inexperienced.

So, the problem is not just Russians. I actually don't think they are that much of a problem.

Why did the English speaking player call you guys noobs? Ever thought of it that way?

No, I don't think of it that way. "Noob" is actually an insult, btw. He had no reason to call us 'noobs' or type profanities about people's mothers, etc, because he intentionally ruined the game and didn't have MVP for most of the match. He was calling people noobs well before we started losing anyway.

It is really pointless to insult your teammates. I can understand frustration (it happens to me too), but losing your temper and insulting your team achieves nothing. It's not like anyone is even going to care what you said when the match ends, so it's a complete waste of time for you and for your team.

You can do what you want and express your opinion. I'm saying that the way you're expressing that opinion is very demeaning and crude by generalizing them when I know Russian players who play and are good at the game.

I know that a lot of you people who complain are from EU and I can't believe that you are THIS bitter about it to make a reddit post. If you're that upset, get a huge group of people to send tickets to S2 to make them lock the Russian players in their own queue to reduce the amount that you get in your queue.

That's why I made this thread - to discuss the problem.

Well it's useless. There aren't many avenues to go down when it comes to stuff like that. There's always going to be toxic players in any game, it how you deal with it matters. You're generalizing and insulting an entire nationality by asking them why they play badly like it's natural to them when you don't even know them.

It actually feels like it's in their natural instincts to play as bad as possible.

This is true. If our response to poor players or bad matchups was to be encouraging and supportive (and to play to the best of our abilities despite potential disadvantages), we'd probably cancel out some of the negativity that drags this genre down.

A lot of us tend to get angry or distracted when players don't perform or behave the way we want them to - as a consequence we miss an opportunity to potentially get them to pull their finger out, or we screw up our own game.

At the very least, not focusing on the nationality or skill of your teammates enables you to remove yourself from unnecessarily spending energy worrying about losses or getting stressed out about a game that's supposed to be entertaining. Yes, I know it can suck, but our response often dictates how much it sucks.

Intentional trolls and disruptive players are a different matter. At least unskilled players may try to make a contribution, even if it backfires. That's where the disadvantages of solo queue without a team come into play - and one of the potential drawbacks to the upsides (variety) of this genre.

I agree, it's really beating a dead horse right now.

Yeah, you're right.
EVERYONE!
Let's encourage this bahavior, but only if it's Russians who's doing it.

I agree.

As for the server lock idea though, I'm not so sure about that. I sometimes play on US West when my local server isn't populated. My ping is decent and I'm English speaking, trying to play properly, etc. So for me that would just close the whole game up basically.
