I'm not sure why but it just felt like a huge turn-off even though you were trying to be cute/clever? I think that kind of humor is best when you kind of have a general idea of the person you're interacting with.

That kind of message immediately would just rub me the wrong way and come off as too desperate/strong.

Well, there's a difference between asking if she'd be interested in going on a date, and then just assuming you're going to go on a date. And then proceed to envision what's going to occur.

That is true. I am a sales person, it's just the way I interact with people I guess. If there are messages being exchanged on a dating site, I assume the end goal is a date; so I don't beat around the bush.
