      Honestly, this is offensive.

Yeah, definitely. I mean of course a list that refers to chicken and waffles, binge watching Buffy, a giant jar of Nutella, and alphabetizing of DVDs as sexual orientations is meant to be taken at face value and is obviously offensive to all who read it.

Trivializing sexuality when it is a serious topic for many people. I do a lot of activism work for my campus and community and I doubt that anyone who I have worked with would like this. In a college town that I live in there is a lot of work to be done, and while I am in Nebraska it still isn't as bad as the deep south on many issues. But main reason: For those who are not comfortable with this, it makes sexuality look like a phase or a funny thing that people can discard like with a haircut. Secondary reason: It just isn't funny.

Luke James Emery People trivialize starvation, domestic abuse, murder and the Holocaust.

Far too many people try really hard to be offended nowadays over trivial crap. You want to be offended about something regarding sexuality? Try one of the countries where anyone not straight is actively breaking the law. That's offensive.

It's not the author's fault if oversensitive people cry every time something could barely possibly be misconstrued as offensive. Everything should be joked about. If you wanna draw an exact line of what can and can't be, have fun with that.

You do realize that people have been and continue to be harassed, beaten, and sometimes killed for their sexual orientation. Making light of sexual orientation is in really bad taste.
        • Max Folk · Top Commenter · Works at Student
You realize that people have been and continue to be harassed, beaten, and sometimes killed for their...anything. Literally anything. Christians, Atheists, Chinese, Canadian, White, Black, communists, fans of sports teams. All have literally been killed because of that one word used to describe them.

If you want to turn a joke list into a bigger deal than it is, do so. Just stop and think for a moment if there is any malice or ill will meant before you do.

So...in other words "stereotypically things enjoyed by gay folks' or the sexual orientation: gay/ironic hipster-sexual.

Which of these are stereotypically enjoyed by gay folks? Did I miss something?

Asia Groves Meryl Streep's movies, Dolly Parton on repeat, Rimming on How to Get Away with Murder, Speedos and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Patti Lupone, Glee, Zachary Quinto's eyebrows, Literally Chris Tucker in Fifth Element, Celebrities doing practically anything that no one else would care about, yet is admittedly fascinating, Laverne Cox, Orange is the New Black, Beyonce, the use of the term "YAAAAAAAS"an Anna Wintour fashion show, Shonda shows, Classic film actresses for no reason (i.e. Marlene Dietrich, basically if you're in the Vogue rap, you have a following. ) Makeup Contouring, An OCD level alphabetization of the DVD collection (one is currently with in sight) Referencing Elaine Strich or the Ladies Who Lunch. Sex scenes on the L word, or just the L word in general. Trying to make normal food sound gourmet "Rosemary French Fries" BARBRA and Looking (a show literally about gay men trying to find other gay men) shall I continue?

I'm not saying anything negative about this, it's just a stereotype. (For the record I enjoy like 90% of these myself)

If the article was named "50 Sexual Addictions..." all this would make sense...But "50 Sexual Orientations.." is confusing me a bit.

I didn't find this offensive... that didn't even occur to me until seeing the comments that it could be taken that way. I didn't even find the list to be gay as I was reading it.. straight gal here and i'm all about many of the items on this list. Especially #'s 50, 44, 42, 40, 30, 14, 13 and 2.
            I will add though:
            51. Adrian Brody
            52. Bruce Willis in the 5th Element (sexual awakening there)
            53. An empty gym
            54. Yolandi Visser
            55. The Ricktatorship
            56. Singing anything by The Smiths in private

And ya maybe it should have been called Sexual Addictions... but I dunno i get where Sarah Karlan was going with this.
