I had great expectations for this eatery based on the great reviews on Yelp. However, this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences EVER, if not the worst.

I ordered tea and there was lipstick on the tea cup! What the hell? Do they not wash their cups? Did someone take a sip and returned it back to them, only for them to give it to ME?! I notified the staff and they quickly gave me another cup of tea.

They seem sincere so I moved on. I had the seafood crepe with fresh fruit on the side. As I am eating my fresh fruit, I notice A LITTLE WHITE WORM crawling out of my blackberry! Needless to say, I was mortified and appalled! I was so repulsed and couldn't believe that I've been eating this fresh fruit side for a while now. I told them and requested a new side. I was not going to get another side of fresh fruit with possible worms in there! I had the lobster mac and cheese, which was decent. I couldn't really finish my meal and my stomach felt queasy after seeing that worm.

This place gets a star for the red velvet cake. That was the only positive thing I experienced at this place. The crepe was all right and the tea was like any other tea, except more pricey. It's a nice neighborhood but maybe I should try the other restaurants around there. I won't be returning to Larchmont Bungalow anytime soon.

    Cute trendy brunch place!

Came in with my family and ordered the best of both worlds, steak eggs Benedict, turkey burger, and the garden omelet. All of which I would recommend!

    Service was great.
Order in the front, find a table (outside is nicer), if you get drinks pick them up in the front, and they bring out your food.

This place is quite dainty. I really do love the cafe feel of this place. Workers are nice and attentive! But I always get confused in who is a worker because of their attire aha.

Food: Was mediocre. I feel like this place is only good for their breakfast foods and desserts. I've tried their bison burgers, sweetfries, and sandwiches before. It was kind of a let down because it was not as good as it appeared.

Drinks: I wouldnt recommend drinking the morrocan coffee. I know my coffee(and I drink it black) and the different types. But this coffee just "okay". too much hype over it lol.

Desserts: As for desserts, the red&&blue velvet pancakes are good! Don't expect it to be moist because they are pancakes lol (that was my issue) they are not the cake! if you want a red velvet cake, get the pastry, not the pancake.

We were in the Larchmont neighborhood to grab ice cream at Salt & Straw but we thought that getting brunch beforehand would be a good idea. After about a 20 minute wait, we made our way into the restaurant. Having looked at the menu during our wait, we were pretty sure about what we wanted until we saw the board inside featuring daily specials such as red velvet waffles, watermelon salad, and calamari salad. We stuck with our original plan and placed our order at the cash register.

Nestled into a small table on the back side of the patio, we waited for our food to arrive at our table. After a brief wait, our food came looking great and smelling good! We enjoyed a half order of the red and blue velvet pancakes, a half order of the LB French toast stuffed with Nutella and plantains, mini omelet sliders - chicken fajita and seafood lover's, breakfast potatoes, and toast.

Despite the mixed reviews for this place, everything that we ordered was well seasoned and well prepared, including the breakfast potatoes, which I often find disappointing and lacking in flavor. The highlights for me however were the pancakes. They were fluffy, moist, and stuffed with a thin layer of cream cheese. If you like red velvet cake, you will love them! The blue velvet pancakes, which had a blueberry flavor, were good as well. My only criticism of the dish is that the dollop of fresh cream cheese topping the pancakes was unnecessary.

This is not a cheap spot and parking is tough mid-day on Sundays but this is a solid brunch place.

Went here for brunch and thought that it was overall pretty good. You place your order at the counter and then find your own table. That worked for us today because it wasn't too crowded but I could see it as a concern on a busy weekend. We ordered the Cobb omelette and steak Benedict. Both we're great and big portion size-- would definitely recommend! One negative was that the cafe latte was a bit disappointing. I was expecting better since they advertised freshly grown coffee.

I love having breakfast out in the patio wherever I dine but Larchmont has that warm and welcoming feeling of home, so anything I eat here is already going to be delicious.

Parking is easy to find here with metered parking along the streets.

I like the idea of placing my order first before sitting down so I can leave after I finish eating.

The breakfast items are delicious, whether you prefer to enjoy a savory or sweet dish, or both.

Larchmont actualy reminds me a lot of my favorite breakfast joint in Chicago, IL... The Bongo Room, except Larchmont just has that home'y feel.

I highly recommend this place. The service, ambiance, and food are exceptional and definitely worth the wait!

    Enjoy!

I've had some mixed experiences at the Larchmont Bungalow. As for the positives, there's a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating, and the specials are usually pretty good. At some point they had a watermelon salad special, which was a visually stunning plate and really tasty. Wherever I go, I also usually try a restaurant's burritos. The morning burrito was decent. It comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled mole sausage, black beans and cheddar cheese. Dripping  cholula onto every bite I took made it pretty darn good.

I would *NOT* recommend the Vegetarian Sensation Scramble. It sounded like it would be good: scrambled egg whites, grilled asparagus, zucchini, exotic mushrooms, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese. However, the dish was a hot mess. It didn't look appealing to the eye - mostly being different shades of the same color. The cheese sat in large awkard chunks on the pile of scramble, and the texture did not jive well with the rest of the dish. Liquid from the mozzarella had pooled around the dish, and this likely contributed to the mass of scramble having uneven temperature. The taste was bland... at best. I poured salt and hot sauce on it to try and dress it up, but the dish was beyond saving. This dish should just come off the menu.

This is another place that has been on my bookmarks since forever. I read parking was hard to find, but we were lucky enough to find metered parking just a few stores down from Larchmont Bungalow. I actually wasn't able to find this place while I was walking around. Their sign is pretty small but just head toward Chase Bank and you will run into the place.

This place is like Urth Cafe. You order first and then find your seat - they offer indoor and outdoor seating. They also have jugs of water for self serve. They sell pastries and lattes as well. Their decor is also similar to Urth's.

Red and Blue Velvet Pancakes: For some reason I got the full order... should have done half order. Their pancakes are not your typical flat and boring pancakes. Their pancakes are actually pretty thick, fluffy, and moist. It came with 4 half pieces of red velvet and 2 half pieces of blue velvet pancakes. The middle has a small layer of an amazing cream cheese and it was also topped with dollops of cream cheese and some nuts. Definitely a must try!

Cobb Omelette: This is what my GF ordered. The meat it came with was chicken and it had tons of bleu cheese and avocado with a side of roasted potatoes. The omelette was super moist and not dry at all. It was flavorful and the avocado was perfectly ripe.

Steak Benedicts: I ordered the steak medium rare, and of course it came out nearly well done. The English muffins were all soggy.. I have no idea why!? Aside from the English muffin and steak issues, the dish was okay. The eggs were poached perfectly and the potatoes were good.

Overall, this is not a bad brunch place. It is actually pretty popular as you can see from the amount of Yelp reviews. You will also see a line out the door! Parking can be a hassle but you just have to be lucky.

Great little spot to hit before the Larchmont Farmers Market on Sunday. Eat before you shop, people!

Coffee is quite excellent, as are the smoothies. A GF and I shared an egg white veggie dish with a side of bacon. Honestly, it was good, but we were much more captivated by what we saw being delivered on other plates. The food looked amazing! I'll be back and will sure to be hungry for it.

Darling little place that's not so little. Cute outdoor seating with tables and umbrellas and is also dog friendly.

Here's how it works -- Put your name down and wait to be seated (took about 20-30 minutes for a party of 8 around 11am on a Sunday - I'm sure the wait is shorter for a smaller party). Once your name is called, you go in, order and pay, and then you are seated. Food is then brought out you (pretty quickly too!). Water and utensils are self-serve, while drinks are picked up on the other side of the register.

Lobster Crab Cake Benedict: Tasty, but not as good as other crab cake benedicts I've had. Maybe it's the fatty in me, but I like my crab cakes to be fried with a crispy exterior. These weren't mushy in any way, but I just missed that extra texture, since the egg and English muffin (I chose this over the focaccia bread) were both soft. There was also a lot of spinach, and I think this took away from the flavors of the lobster crab cake.

Breakfast Burrito: I only had a couple bites of this, but it was pretty good. Again, nothing too special, but tasty. It had bacon and sausage in it, which was nice since I can never decide on one. A splash of hot sauce is needed to step up the flavor factor.

Red and Blue Velvet Pancakes: What everyone raves about, this is definitely a dish to be shared. We shared it between 4 people and still weren't able to finish it! More of a cake than a pancake, these are moist and just the right amount of sweetness. The cream cheese frosting complements it well, but it's all just too much for one person, or even two. Especially if you are eating another entree as well. I personally wouldn't get this as my own entree because I prefer savory breakfasts, but if you've got a sweet tooth, this will definitely hit the spot and fill you up (and probably lead to a sugar crash later!).

Vanilla Latte: Got mine with almond milk, and it was on par with other lattes I've had (nothing beats Intelligensia though). I'm not sure if all their orders come in to-go cups, but I would have preferred it to come in an actual mug with beautiful latte art. That's part of the brunch experience for me! Not holding it against them though :)

Overall, an A-OK meal. My biggest complaint is that the food was all warm at best. I think everything would've tasted better, and wowed us more, if they were hotter. Not the best brunch I've had, and so far all the LA brunches I've had are just "fine". SF still owns my heart (and tummy) for brunch.

Man, this place is GOOD! It' so good that I managed to come back before I was able to finish writing the review for the first one. Now I have to write two reviews in one.

Parking isn't so difficult considering it looks as if every single metered parking spot is taken on the short block south of Beverly on both sides of Larchmont. What really helps is the metered parking lot on the west side of Larchmont. Also, most people don't appear to want to dawdle too much. Most of them just come in and go.

The building is sooo adorable. It looks just like the name suggests: a bungalow. When you walk up the porch and enter the front door, the counter to order your food is to your right. Order and you will be given a number. You may now look for a table inside the awesome bungalow or any of the three outdoor areas.

I've been lucky enough not to experience a line on both occasions I was here. When I came by a nearby ice cream place in the afternoon on another day, the line to get in was super long. Worth it to stand in line? Depends on whether or not you mind conversing with your dining companions.

BST Benedict - Applewood smoked bacon, spinach, tomato and poached eggs topped with hollandaise on brioche. Fantastic! The sauce was great, the brioche substitute was great. Why have I not seen this before?

LB French toast - Stuffed with Nutella and plantains, then topped with toasted hazelnuts and served with a hazelnut syrup. Memorable and I would order this again! The plaintains were so good. I can't believe something so simple could be so good.

Red Velvet Belgian Waffle - Although I was trying to order the red velvet pancakes, I mistakenly ordered this. But what a serendipitous mistake. The sauce was .
sweet but not too sweet. The berries were a nice tart touch.

Latkes and Lox - The potato pancakes were crispy on the outside, warm and softy on the inside. Topped with very good smoked salmon and poached eggs and an awesomely light crème fraiche.

I have an unhealthy obsession with all things red (or any colored) velvet so when I heard raving reviews about this place's red & blue velvet pancakes, it became a top priority for my trip. We came on a Sunday for brunch and the place was understandably packed. We asked the hostess for the wait and she said about 15-20 minutes. It was more like 45 and we noticed that she didn't seem to have a good grasp on estimating time because as the line/crowd grew, she kept telling everyone the same wait. Anyways we finally got inside and stood in a short line to order at the counter before finding a two-person table to sit at. I ordered the half order of red velvet and pancakes as well as a side of the breakfast potatoes. The cashier's reaction was "Oh, very good choices." and she proceeded to tell me that the potatoes were her favorite. Yay for carbs! We were given buzzers but food runners bring out the food to you. Because the buzzers lay flat on tables, the food runners have to pretty much run by every table before finding it. As our food passed us a couple times, I must say that there are better ways to show order numbers.

Anyways onto the food!: The side of breakfast potatoes was much larger than I thought it'd be and the potato chunks themselves were also bigger than I'm used to. But they were perfectly cooked and seasoned with rosemary. They were soft through and through but not mushy. The pancakes... Oh man, I didn't know pancakes could be so fluffy and delicious. Two red pieces and one blue (in the half order), they are thick and have a layer of whipped cream cheese in them. Even though I can't eat much sweets so I only ate one of the three pieces and had to take the others to go, I am addicted and wish I could come back every weekend to have these!

Great spot to visit for lunch alone or with a group. They have great indoor and outdoor seating and a menu where every single item sounds delicious! My friend and I had the steak and eggs breakfast, their scrumptious red and blue velvet pancakes and their seafood omelette...yum!! I wouldn't give it 5 stars though because they didn't explain the ordering setup when I arrived. Nobody was there to greet my friend and I and we a staffer walked by he said we can sit down anywhere. What he forgot to mention was we have to order and pay for our food upfront then we sit and wait for our food to arrive. I wish they had been clearer but overall good ambiance and good food :)

I came here with a couple of my friends on a Sunday afternoon. The wait was about 10 minutes. Once they let you in, you make your order at the front and then get seated at a table. It's more convenient especially not having to wait for your bill or split checks.

I got the traditional breakfast with bacon. I felt the bacon was too greasy and made me sick. I didn't really enjoy the eggs. Also, when you sit outside, there are a lot of flies where it's extremely annoying swatting them every 5 seconds.

I would like to try their pancakes because those look delicious!

I'm a sucker for something that sounds delicious and cool. Aka, the red and blue velvet pancakes.
It was pretty thick for my particular taste, but it was alright. Also, it was too sweet with the cream cheese filling. I felt like I was gonna pop open sugar.
My friends dish which was some type of omelette, which was solid.
There isn't really service. You go up to the cashier to order your food and get a number. Some time later, the waiter drops off your food.
But this place is hipster and trendy just like the location of its street.
I would come back here. It makes you feel like you want to enjoy the little moments in life. So overall, good.

You first wait in line. When it's your turn, you order at the counter and then you seat yourself (or sometimes they will help you out). Wait can be long, so be prepared.

Overall, I'm not sure what the hype's all about. Food is mediocre. They have a wide selection, which is nice, but their dishes are overpriced. We had lobster mac & cheese, seafood scrambled egg, espresso, and americano. Both the food and coffee just didn't meet our expectations as a 4-star restaurant (Yelp starring, of course) with such pricing. I don't think I would go back here for brunch.

I came here pretty much just for the red and blue velvet pancakes and they did not disappoint.

This is a pretty chill, very trendy spot in central LA with a very good amount of outdoor seating. While there is a huge outdoor patio, if you can try to snag one of the tables out front where you can see all the super hip Angelinos striding by.

As for the food, the coffee here is pretty solid and the Red and Blue Velvet Pancakes are pretty amazing. Just be warned that they are HUGE. They are so huge that if you are a party of two or three people definitely get the half order. You will see when they come out that this was the right way to go, as the full order can easily feed 4 people.

Having eaten these subtly sweet, very fluffy, cream cheese filled creations topped with a sweetend whipped cream cheese and candied walnuts I have to say that they are a must-eat item in LA. However, after perusing the menu my brother and I had to admit that the rest of the offerings were pretty staid and ho hum. This isn't to say they are bad in any way because we obviously didn't order everything, but nothing here touches the extreme creativity of the red and blue velvet pancakes.

Well, that is, nothing except maybe their new red and blue velvet waffles but, if you are visiting for just a short time like I was, definitely go with the OG.

The system is very similar to Huckleberry's, but because the cafe has more space, it works more efficiently. The wait could be long if you arrive past 11:30 am, so you might want to grab an early brunch or breakfast.

While I understand that you order at the counter and wait for your order, I do think that Larchmont Bungalow's service falls below Huckleberry's. What saddens me to give this place 3 stars instead of 4 is that they used unhealthily stale and old walnuts and pistachio.

    Now, in terms of food...
    a) The red velvet pancakes are slightly overhyped. Imagine a hybrid of a large macaron and whoopie pie with a cakey texture. However, it is worth trying and sharing with friends. You always learn something new from culinary creativity.

    b) The Asian calamari salad, by far, was my favorite plate. The light panko-crusted calamari had the perfect crunch, crisp, and tenderness. The nutty pistachio meat and creamy, rich avocado brought a balance to the sweet plantains. Layering the salad with thin cucumber slices not only adds color and texture but freshens the overall salad as well. I wish the dressing was a bit more citrus-y, less dense to brighten the salad's heavy components.

    c) My dad and brother thoroughly enjoyed the curry lobster, shrimp, and spinach wrap with brown rice. The curry sauce complemented the earthy spinach and seafood chunks rather well. You taste a great mix of spicy, sweet, and salty.

I'll be returning, soon, in hopes that Larchmont Bungalow redeems itself. I'd order the calamari salad, again. I want to give the vegetarian benedict and pastries a go next time. :)

i had a merry time with my daughter. Spacious, friendly services, comfortable, colorful pancakes.

When i visiting my daughter's house in LA, my daughter took me to talk with a light dinner in Lachmont Village. It was Sunday evening and we could have a parking space easily on the street. Expecting very crowded, but there were plenty of seating inside and outside. Grabbing menu from a front door, we ordered the hot tea, coffee, and the famous red velvet pancake at the counter. The staffs gave us the coffee, tea and a beeper to call for the pancake as get it done.

Coming out three red and blue pancakes in the rectangular plate, these were warm and yummy with cream cheese inside and outside the pancakes. The color was extremely pretty and we took selfie and posted the SNS and everybody's WOWed. My daughter and i stayed as long as the parking meter allowed. 2hrs.

One thing i was not pleased is the cleanness. Used napkins, chop sticks and trashes were everywhere and it's made me sick and uncomfortable.

However, i am gonna come back, if i have a chance.

Easily my favorite place to have breakfast in LA. And by breakfast, I mean brunch. Because it's usually 11am-1pm. It seems to always be filled with beautiful people but never hard to find a seat! That's always a plus.

Lets talk about customer service here. It's 5-Star for sure. Their food is equally as good! Each person I've encountered working there has a cool laid back vibe but still super friendly and attentive. My kind of place!

The Soy Chai Latte was probably the best Soy Chai Latte I've ever had. I'll be ordering this on every visit now. I order this drink everywhere, this is among my favorite for sure.

Lets talk about the Red & Blue Velvet Pancakes for a second... they're so good. But they're not really pancakes, they're cake cake. Haha. And they're delicious! I'm a big guy and I can't even finish a full order, but I always get it anyway. Ha. I'll have to try for the half order next time. Why? Because I always always always get bacon here. The bacon is amazing! Vegetarians are cringing, I know. Bacon, yum!

Oh, and the next day... or whenever its had time to "process"... your poop will be green. Don't be alarmed. Jussayin.

And the people who visit here are pretty.  LA good looking. Good food, friendly non-pretentious service, pretty people. Win win win, I'll be back.

This restaurant is one of the reasons why I love coming to LA from the SF Bay Area. I always order half an order of Red and Blue Velvet Pancakes. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly! We usually go around 2pm-3pm when there's not so much people.

The only problem we have is eating inside. There's always big flies flying around us and our food.

3.5 stars for Larchmont Bungalow.  4 for breakfast and 3 for lunch.

Definitely overpriced, but I guess that's to be expected on Larchmont.

    BREAKFAST:
Breakfast Panini (Eggs, grilled chicken-apple sausage, tomato, avocado, and sharp cheddar) was very good, and they have a large and diverse breakfast menu.

A note on the Red & Blue Velvet Pancakes - you probably won't want to have these as your only dish as they are VERY sweet, like biting into a red velvet cupcake. Delicious for a few bites, but I can't imagine eating a whole plate of them.

    LUNCH:
The turkey burger sounded amazing.  I love turkey burgers.  $14 is a bit steep for lunch, but if it was as good as it sounded (homemade turkey burger stuffed with caramelized apples, sautéed onions, brie cheese and topped with tomato, and wild arugula), it would be worth it. Unfortunately, it was just okay.  It just wasn't that flavorful and there was just something off about it.. the texture or consistency just wasn't quite right. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't get it again.

Visiting SoCal for this year's Pageant Of The Masters, we'd had Larchmont Bungalow bookmarked for forever & was high time we made the trek

Thankfully, I'm an early-bird so there were a few tables still available when we got there.....but I'd also point out that this was 9:30am on a Sunday & almost immediately after we were seated, there were no tables left & the line out the door had started.  Plan accordingly, chickens!

Unsure what to choose, we were extremely pleased to see they offered half-orders & proceeded to establish brunch bliss

The Mr got the Huevos Rancheros & was loving the abundance of avocado - combined w/ the runny yolks & sour cream, this was creaminess incarnate - which is a very good thing!  The tricolored tortillas underneath stayed crispy almost the whole time & this added a nice texture layer to the dish

Being the sugar-sweet one of our pair, I chose a half order of the Red & Blue Velvet Pancakes & a half order of the LB French Toast

The pancakes were very fluffy & dense but no real "velvet" aspect to them.....usually red velvet has an undertone of chocolate.  These pancakes just had a food-coloring-novelty.....the outer layer was hard & to the point of being a bit rubbery.  A mere fork couldn't cut into these pancakes - knife was needed.  There was no syrup but I found the sweet cream cheese layer more than adequate

So overall, I thought they were nice-tasting pancakes but probably wouldn't order them again.....not when there's the frenchie!

The LB French Toast was awesome - bread was nicely soaked in the eggy mixture.  Not pudding-like but custardy enough to suit my high custardy standards & when combined w/ the nutella & sauteed bananas, it was sweet & custardy perfection!

2 lattes to wash everything down.....just a bit on the bitter side but nothing that couldn't be remedied w/ a packet of raw sugar

Happy we came here & found out for ourselves what the hype was all about. Not sure this would be my 1st choice for a destination visit but if in the area, we'd definitely enjoy more brunchy goodness!

Oh, Larchmont.  When did you get so busy?  Was it because of your lobster mac n cheese, or was it the red and blue velvet pancakes?

Finding a seat here is pretty hard on the weekends because a lot of people like to come here and just chill and eat.

However, I do love their lobster mac n cheese (when they have it) and I love the ambiance.  Plus, the bf and I had our first Valentine's Day meal ever here ... so it's got a special place in my heart. :D

    Overhyped.

It's one of those places where the pictures look amazing, but when you taste the food, you immediately think, "Dammit, I could've made this at home."

Red velvet pancake - It's more like a cake... doesn't taste like a pancake at all. The inside part is soft and delicious, but the outside layer is overly hardened, and I'm left to wonder if it has been sitting out for a while. Do not recommend.

Cobb omelet - Make sure you are a huge blue cheese fan when you get this. The side salad and dressing were great, but the actual omelet was a disappointment.

    BY THE WAY

Why the hell are there so many flies ... indoors?! Literally from beginning to end, it was a constant struggle of eating my food vs. swatting the little fcukers away. There were probably 8 that were hovering over our food. Am I in fcuking Africa? While I was taking pictures of my food (yes, I'm one of those), damn flies capitalized on that moment and decided to make themselves comfortable on my omelet. Why thank you, Larchmont Bungalow, for that extra seasoning of flies' feet.

I've had this place bookmarked for some time now, so I'm glad to finally be able to take it off my list.  Looking at other reviews, my expectations were too high.

My cousin and I were quite confused when we walked in, thinking there would be a host to seat us.  Instead, there was a line formed, so we just followed suit and grabbed a menu to browse through before it was our turn to order.

My cousin ordered the smoked salmon benedict with breakfast potatoes and I ordered the lobster crab cake benedict with breakfast potatoes, we also ordered a half order or the red and blue velvet pancakes to give it a try since that seemed to be the most popular dish there.

The lobster crab cake benedict was not very enjoyable because it texture was just too dry.  The smoked salmon benedict was fine.  The pancakes were a bit on the dry side as well and not that sweet, so we had to generously drench them in maple syrup (maybe because we both have a huge sweet tooth?) to have a few bites.

As I sit here 50 minutes after ordering my food still foodless and hungry,  I ponder how an establishment that is so established has no system in place for technology system failures. I understand how it is when orders don't reach the kitchen but there was zero communication between the staff and guests about it.
This is my first time here and the cashiers never instructed us that we had to pick up our drinks even if we dine in so I wandered over 30 minutes later to find a watered down drink sitting by its lonesome on the coffee bar.
Our food finally comes an hour later and it is luke warm at best,  pancakes are soggy from the fruit sitting on it too long and they get one of our orders wrong.
At this point,  it doesn't matter whether their food is good or not (and imo,  it is just OK),  their lack of organization and communication or attempt to remedy a bad situation is dissappinting to me and I work in this industry so I'm very patient and understanding.
So at the end of a long story,  I ate a bite of my food,  requested a refund and left disappointed. Maybe I'll give them another shot in the future and update this review.

I've had the bungalow bookmarked for so long and I finally got to stop by after my Flywheel class. Unfortunately, I didn't find it to be as special as I thought. It's eerily similar to Urth cafe, but I thought I'd give it a try.

I order a half portion of the LB French toast and a cup of the Earl grey creme tea. The French toast was well cooked and topped with a Nutella drizzle and plantains, but there really wasn't anything standout about it. The tea on the other hand was perfection! They were even kind enough to serve me more hot water so I could steep the bag twice.

I'm glad I came because this place seems to be an LA must-go but there's nothing really drawing me to come back. It was a relaxing breakfast on the patio though!

My friend brought me here for the first time and kept talking about how great the blue & red velvet pancakes were... He was right! They were pretty damn good! Get the half order though, it comes with 3 and that's more than enough because of how sweet it is. It's practically cake.

We also had the smoked salmon eggs benny. Super tasty!

The restaurant is a chill, casual, environment.

Cons: The only big con I have is that the service is non-existent. You get your own water (and refills), we needed silverware and had to get it ourselves, whenever we needed something, we had to flag people down as they rushed around. Workers were nice, but maybe they just didn't have enough people..? 4 stars because of the good food and cool environment.

I've been here twice for breakfast and once for lunch. I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but it's really been a big disappointment. The restaurant is cute, built like a house, and has indoor and outdoor seating. You order first and are given a number and the waiters will bring the food out to you. Even when the line is long, the longest wait is 20 mins as ppl are constantly coming and going.

The food is bland and lacking quality assurance.
B.S.T Benedit - 2/5. Eggs benedicts are not meant to be overcooked! A brunch place should not be poorly executing poached eggs! The bacon was smokey and flavorful. However, the bread was dry.
Latkes & Lox - 4/5. Yummy crispy potato pancakes. Creme fraiche had sour/unripened fruit chunks in it which did not add any flavor. We picked it off.
Southern Fried Chicken Wrap - 2/5. Nothing special. Literally felt like random ingredients were thrown together to make the wrap look bigger. The fried chicken lacked flavor.
Fruit Bowl - 5/5. Fresh, and good yogurt. However, overpriced.

The ambience and atmosphere is really cute and laid back. The service is 5 stars. But the food is not worth the hype OR the money. I'm sure there was a time where Larchmont Bungalow had quality food but that time is over. Check out Urth Cafe or The Alcove where the quality of ingredients and flavor is higher. P.S. If you want an amazing brunch in the San Diego area, The Cottage in La Jolla puts Larchmont Bungalow to shame!

Nice cafe, tasty food, diverse options. I've only ever been here once so I can't say how good all their food is, but the sandwich I had was quite decent. Cute dining area too.

First of all the red velvet and blue velvet pancakes are DELICIOUS. I ordered half of a portion and shared it with my two other friends. Along with our own dish, it was definitely enough. I liked that the pancakes were just the right amount of sweetness! Larchmont is definitely pricey and probably wouldn't be my go-to brunch restaurant. I think I spent around $30 ordering the Santa Fe quesadilla, the pancakes, and an orange juice. The Santa Fe quesadilla was such a huge portion that I was able to take some home. If you're a quesadilla and an avocado lover I'd definitely recommend :)

Perfect brunch spot (or for any time of day). I enjoyed my Organic Quinoa Breakfast Bowl. It was very filling with it's fresh blueberries, bananas and cinnamon topped with candied walnuts. The steamed almond milk and honey on the side were great additions that really tied the whole meal together. I felt very healthy while eating it!
I recommend the Breakfast Panini for a heartier meal. All of its components were so delicious! Eggs, grilled chicken-apple sausage, tomato, avocado, and sharp cheddar in-between two slices of toasted focaccia bread...they were the perfect ingredients for a panini. I had breakfast potatoes on the side, and they were BOMB--perfectly baked potato wedges sprinkled with rosemary.
My only complaint is that service can be quite slow, but the food made up for it.

This is one of my favorite brunch place ever!
I can usually find street parking, but sometimes I have to circle around the block a few times before I actually find an empty spot. Parking is free on Sundays at the lot across the street few stores down. But I usually avoid coming here on Sundays because the long wait.

Tried this out for the first time because my friend recommended it, I got the lobster Benedict , chowder & my friend got the mini omelette. The lobster Benedict came out with potatoes they were perfectly cooked and flavorful! The lobster cake Benedict was good the poached egg was runny( I like runny). The chowder was good but not as thick as I thought it would be but good though. My friend said the mini omelette were good she got to customize what would be in the omelette. If only I had an appetite for 2 I would order their infamous pancakes but that will be next time...

Finally tried this place after hearing so much about it but I was a bit disappointed.

The place and atmosphere is really cute and the staff is really nice!

But the food was alright to be honest. I tried the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and the half portion of red velvet pancakes. I think the food was a bit pricey for the taste...

Maybe it was overhyped for me but it was worth a try... I just wouldn't come often.

Just ordered a piece of pecan chocolate pie for take out. Now I know why they don't put the prices on the desserts. $8.75 for a piece of pie ? Seriously? One piece? It better be really good. UPDATE: it wasnt.

I've had this place bookmarked for a while now. So when Brian I. suggested we hang out on Larchmont for our traditionally named "Brian and Harmonie Day," I was secretly hoping we would end up eating here :)

The menu is clear on which items are vegan (v), vegetarian (veg), and/or gluten free (gf). There are LOTS of options for all, even meateaters. Brian I. had the Bison Chili Burger which he claims was delicious and really filling. Since it was a really hot day, I was in the mood for a salad yet I was undecided between the Vegan Chicken Curry Salad and the Vegan Cobb Salad. The super helpful gal at the cash register recommended the former and she was right on!

Beautifully presented, a mound of vegan chicken curry sat on a bed of spring mix greens. It was topped with a generous amount of julienned cucumber. Perfect balance of light and filling. I also like that the curry on the vegan chicken wasn't overly creamy with veganaise like many places tend to do. In fact, it's possible they didn't use anything "creamy" at all. Just full of delicious flavors! bit.ly/1jBC94D

Just this salad alone is enough to make me come back. I'm really curious about the Vegan Burger and Green Vegan Enchiladas.

It's sad to say I live about 3 miles from the Larchmont Bungalow and have never dined there, until recently. My cousin was in Los Angeles visiting from the Maryland and he asked that I take him somewhere where we could enjoy a delicious breakfast.
I had never even tried this place, but had heard many good things about it from friends and of course, Yelp. So hell yeah I suggested the Larchmont Bungalow!

You basically order at the front, pay, and then have seat. The food is brought out to you and anything else you need. The food was delicious and my cousin was pleasantly surprised because our order took about 30 minutes to come out to us.

I will be back and I will make sure to send my cousin photos so he can salivate over them!

I honestly dont get why everyone loves this place so much. It's just another cafe in LA where they sell coffee, tea, desserts and food.

Everyone goes crazy about their red and blue velvet cakes but I dont see anything special about them. They are rather dry compared to the ones I have tried at somewhere else.

What I liked about this cafe was not the drinks, desserts or their food. I like the vibe and atmosphere it gives, especially at night. I like to sit outside because it seems a lot quieter than inside. Not to mention all their workers are super nice and professional. The guys who bring you food and/or who wipes the tables, they are super kind and very polite.

I wouldnt mind coming here after shopping on Larchmont with a cup of tea but not coming here for their dessert or food.

Parking is strictly street parking which is metered. It can be hard especially on the weekends!

History

Established in 2009.
Larchmont Bungalow is proud to be a part of the Green Restaurant Association.  During our initial construction Larchmont Bungalow's owners found old newspaper from the 1950's behind the walls previously used as insulation.   We proudly reused that newspaper as wall coverings for both our women's and men's restrooms.
Inside the restaurant our entire wood flooring is from refurbished material.  Once inside you will also find burlap wall coverings on the dining room walls.  Our green coffee beans are delivered in large woven burlap bags and we have cut those bags down to reuse them.
