Rather than thinking of it as 3 cents, why don't you consider that 3 cents to be a % of the persons overall tip fund? 3 cents could have been 50% of what bits he/she had to give. Also, I think one person giving 3 cents is not a big deal, but when you have hundreds of thousands of people giving three cents to a cause, then it can make a big difference. Bits allows people to throw change in a digital bucket, we couldn't do that before.
