EA/Punkbuster Scandal. why you should think twice before buying Multiplayer games from them (self.truegaming)

Last month Punkbuster did a ban-wave (GAMEHACK) #81570, there was a lot of complaints on Battlelog quickly locked and deleted by moderators but I didn't care that much back then, I wasn't one of them... until the 11-nov-2014, when I tried to connect to my favorite server and found out that I was banned ! http://i.imgur.com/Gngmxku.jpg. oh man I almost lost it, I rushed to Pbbans a third party anti-cheat sites to find out that there was more than 500 account banned that day, I reached to EA help to know what's going on but they just keep saying that they can't do anything, that I need to check with EvenBalance the makers of Punkbuster the anti-cheat system that banned us

And oh my, here begins one of the most hilarious and ridiculous support services I've ever seen. in that outdated website http://evenbalance.com/ [evenbalance.com] you have the possibility to appeal your ban, but no matter what you say or do, you are gonna get the same automatic reply everyone gets from a bot named Alex j http://imgur.com/N0zJYuc [imgur.com]

So i started looking for some place where I can express myself without fear of being censored or banned, I did a quick research and found 2 topics on /r/battlefield3

From here people start gathering and working together trying to find out what the hell is going on, we quickly realized that Evenbalance aren't gonna admit they made a mistake, it's just like 600 people concerned this time no big deal... yeah you heard me! cause Evenbalance made a lot of mistakes in the past not so long ago (six months) they admitted there was an error after a massive ban of +1000 players June 2014 confirmed false positive #81567 June 2014 confirmed false positive #81568 1000+ affected Dec 2013 confirmed false positive #81518

Our last hope was some DICE employees who are active on Reddit, @Tiggr was one of them, we reached to him in twitter and he did his best to help but no results, I think Evenbalance doesn't want to hear anything this time... Some of the Twitter discussion http://imgur.com/NsXFHUJ [imgur.com] Now that DICE tried to help we tried to reach Evenbalance again and I sent them this message http://imgur.com/Q4JohRz, [imgur.com] now they seem a little bit more cooperative but how are we supposed to know such things ? are they expecting us to do their job ? after that a new reddit user "gamehackgate" posted some signatures that may have triggered the bans, some of us did find a match but we don't know if it's legit, we did send the results to Evenbalance but we didn't hear back from them...

The bans may have caught some cheaters but a lot of legit players are banned too, I myself have more than 1000 hours in both BF3 and BF4, I am a member of Reddit since a year now and my first message was on the Battlefield 4 Subreddit, but this commitment will end if the bans are not lifted, no more Battlefield for me or any game with Punkbuster in it

Please help us spread the word, the way we are treated is wrong and this need to stop!

So here is the problem, how do we know your telling the truth? I'm not saying your lying, but internet forums are littered with the posts of cheaters who got banned and then tried to stir up some type of innocence movement to get it reversed. There was a particularly blatant case on /r/archeage not too long ago. Proving a negative is hard to impossible, but without being able to prove you aren't cheating, why should we assume your telling the truth and the usually accurate ban system is wrong this time?

Even if your innocent, nor much to do other then trying to find someone at the company that cares. I mean I guess you could file a nuisance lawsuit, maybe they don't show up and you win by default, but I would imagine their EULA provides pretty strong protection.

If you actually read his post, you'd see that his issue was not having a way to contest the ban, and the numerous proofs provided of the current contesting system being inadequate.

Yes, cheaters will lie to get bans lifted. Yes, OP could possibly be a lying cheater who deserves the ban, but that's not what he wrote about.

The point was "you can have your time and money invalidated on a whim, with no recourse" which is a completely reasonable topic to bring up.

And that is common practice. Shitty, but very, VERY common. Every single mayor anti cheat system follows it, be it punkbuster, Vac, fairplay, the planetside 2 "system"...

Singling out EA and punkbuster is weird, and the fact I saw nothing about this in the bf4 subreddit is shady.

Battlefield 3 went free for a week or so, if i wanted to cheat i would creat multiple accounts to do so, i won't risk my main account with 1000h on both BF3 & BF4

Im not a resident of Europe or US but i don't think a lawsuit would work, they are giants company's they won't loose against particuliers, EA even won a lawsuit against Battlefield 4 broken launch...

You have dev of the game personally on issue trying to do his best and yet you just bash them.

What is up with reddit and the hard-on to kick Battlefield series or EA where they can? I never see "Don't buy cs:go, from store in dota... because VAC is goddamn joke", why?

Where to even begin? EA turned Battlefield into an annual release series barely better than Call of Duty. They stopped shipping games with mod tools to sell their shitty and incredibly overpriced maps instead, and they even stopped allowing people to host their own game servers!

You might not be old enough to have played Battlefield 1942, but it's hard for those of us who loved that game to play modern Battlefield games without a sense of longing for what the game used to be.

EA turned Battlefield into an annual release series barely better than Call of Duty.

That is what we call opinion presented as fact.

Games are spaced out 2 years apart with engine majorly changed (FB2 on bf3, fb3 on bf4 and hl). There is a reason why mod tools are not released which was stated several times - with engine changes they cannot provide licenses for modders to dig into code EA have licensed from another companies.

Really, EA has their share of issues and there is plenty things to fix. I'm not fan of being defender, but sometimes this E(A)VIL thing gets ridiculous.

Read my post again i didn't bash Dice, i said he did his best but without results, in the end he just said that you should check with Evenbalance and that led to nothing, what im saying here is that Evenbalance Support serivce is a joke and EA does nothing to help people that bought the game from them and not from EB

My old email accounts I have associated with BF2 accounts have lately been having tons of suspicious login attempts from around the world.

I'm surprised anybody still expects EA and partners to do anything right.

EA suddenly stopped recognising my Red Alert 3 serial key a few years back, claiming it was invalid. EA said it was pirated and that I would have to contact the retailer (Steam) for a new key. Steam said it was EA's technical fuckup and they would have to fix it.

I never got the issue resolved.
