You people don't know what a neckbeard is. It refers to this weird short-lived fashion that was popular among hipsters and supergeeks for some reason for 2 seconds about 15 years ago:

But, a neckbeard is not a regular beard that wraps around under the jaw. Of course, on a fat guy the under-jaw area is going to stick out more, but that doesn't make it a neckbeard. If anything, that would be a double-chin beard. Or a fat-beard. And fuck you for making fun of fat people, anyway. Making fun of a ridiculous neckbeard is one thing, but making fun of overweight people with a regular beard just shows what a little twit you are. What, do you think this looks better?

The misunderstanding all started from this one popular Reddit image of Jerry Messing who can't quite grow a full beard... and that makes you who use the term constantly quite out of touch with really old terminology.

A neckbeard does not necessarily have to refer to a literal neckbeard. A neckbeard, in this thread, and in others, refers to a type of person (overweight, fedora wearing, Reddit user, etc.), not a literal neck beard.

Nope. A neck beard is based on a guy with an ungroomed beard that has grown undeliberately because he's too slovenly and lazy to shave himself. Not a hipster fashion from 15 years ago. The fact that that fashion existed does not in some way stop people from being allowed to picture a slovenly fat guy with terrible neck hair when they are insulting nerds. Which is what they are doing.
