この講義では、都市の中に残された貴重な自然環境であるICUキャンパスで、 身近に観察できる生き物が互いに関わり合って生きている姿を 紹介することを切り口に、各自が生き物に対して抱いている感性について 再考し、人と他の生物が共に生きて行くことについて考える きっかけとなる対話をする。

守屋靖代教授(言語教育)
「ICUの英語学ー言語学で読み解く英語のパワー」 詳細

ICUで英語学を専攻するとどのような学びができるかを紹介する。
具体的には実際の英語資料を見て聞いてもらい、最新の言語学の分析方法とそこから 見える英語が担うアイデンティティと価値観、また国際語としてのパワーについて考 察する。最後には英語学専攻の卒業論文トピックも紹介する。

「サッカーと人種差別を考える」 詳細

最近日本でも問題になっているサッカースタジアムでの人種差別的行為。
横断幕やババナを使って外国人嫌悪や特定の人種を差別するこうした行為をどのように考 えることができるのだろうか。この講義ではイギリスの事例を中心に分析しながら、 サッカーと人種差別がどのように結びついてきたのかを考えていく。

"Creative Commons for Creative People: Copyleft in the Digital Age" 詳細

The easy availability and ease of downloading online multimedia information and materials is a boon for reception and consumption of information as it opens up many avenues for academic research and presentations that were not available in the pre internet period. However the ethics regarding what people can and cannot do with the materials after they access them is not quite so straight forward. This presentation explores the concepts of creative commons for multimedia materials and the extent to which these concepts are known and adhered to in the academic work of current university staff and students. It will show how to search and use use creative commons multimedia materials properly in academic work and will also hopefully be entertaining and useful for all students and teachers.
