This is what they get for buying everything with a credit card.

Why pay more for something when you can get it for cheaper and be done with it? Why pay interest on tooth paste?

Very naive comment. Credit cards have plenty of great uses, including making what you purchase cheaper.

Financially responsible Adults will be chiming in on your up vote button. There won't be many......

Not really. The cost goes onto the next customer.

...who also pays with a credit card and gets their cashback rewards, so ultimately it's those who don't pay with credit that lose out.

Why should they "lose out" for not using a credit card? Not everyone can have one. Why should they pay more?

It has its uses, I pay everything with my credit card for the cash back bonus but I pay off the bill imediately when I get home so I don't have to pay the interest.

You should wait until you get a statement so you can help your credit too.

If you pay interest on a credit card, you're using it wrong.

Not according to the banks. They want you to pay the interest. Why use a credit card when you can use cash? I mean if you are paying it off right away, then what is the difference other than some stupid ass promotion they have going on?

I just think it's a bad habit to get into.

If you carry non-trivial amounts of cash, cops are likely to steal it and throw you in prison, claiming it's drug money. If you ever needed a reason to use plastic or checks, that's a pretty good one.

Then that means you are going and buying things that cost $1,000 or more. The police wont bat an eye if you only have a grand or so.

How are you paying off the interest when you buy things that cost that much on a credit card?

You don't get it. You buy something that's $1,000 on a credit card. You pay it off when due. There IS NO INTEREST.

Ok, so you have an extra $1,000 sitting around for when that bill comes?

I don't think you get it.

Don't spend money you don't have. That should be obvious. It's you who doesn't get it.

Like people who use a credit card has the money just sitting around or they can pay off their balance with one paycheck. Give me a fucking break.

You have a limited view of the world, kiddo. Or perhaps you just live paycheck to paycheck. For those who manage money wisely (like me), it's simple to budget and save for certain expenses, pay for them via credit card, and then pay off that balance at the end of the month with your checking funds. Or pay for your weekly needs like groceries and gas via credit card, and pay them off at the end of the month. These skills aren't hard to learn. I'm sure there's tons of free information on personal finance management available on line for you.

...Yes? Why would you charge $1000 you don't have? Credit cards earn you money if you don't use them as credit, i.e. only charge what you can actually afford to pay in full when the statement comes.

This, exactly.

If it's a debit card or a check, there isn't any interest to pay off.

Yep, not talking about debit cards or checks.

I pay my credit card off each month and use the cashback bonus in the form of partner gift cards as Christmas presents. The money accumulates throughout the year, and usually it's a deal where you spend $20 and get a $25 gift card or spend $40 and get a $50 gift card. I take care of a good portion of Christmas shopping that way.

Also...who cares if the banks want you to pay interest? It doesn't mean you have to.

You do realize though that each transaction done by a credit card and debit card cost the business right? The business will then raise their prices slightly to compensate for it. So, someone comes in using cash will pay the fee for someone using a credit card.

I worked at one store and saw the bill on the CC transactions. Out of $800 in transactions, they were charged around $60. That might not seem like much, but does add up.

So, more reason to use credit as you recoup part of that cost in cashback rewards.

The people who use cash don't get that option though. So pretty much, you guys cause us to pay higher prices so you can not use cash. It makes no sense.

Of course I realize that. I'm not saying to use credit/debit cards every day all day. I carry cash as well. You just don't seem to realize the benefit of having them.
