speaking as an official KiA declared SJW (feel free to reference ongoing discussions in my post history) the first one was fine.
Sarkeesian's conclusion is widely criticized on that issue for games where you can be violent to anyone, a more fitting criticism for a lot of games is what women you're choosing to include (eg how staple sex workers are for example).

Except her lack of perspective sucks because over the whole of gaming history there have been many strong female characters starting with Samus Aran, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, on and on. She ignores these because she's not familiar with the whole of the hobby due to lack of experience and they mess up her political and career agendas.

We can take that all the way back to arguments in which it's "percentage based" and over the whole of gaming you'll find low percentages of women, which is probably true, but there are also arguments out there not based around forced quotas and a weird political bias that present evidence that the lack of women doesn't represent a weird patriarchy oppression but rather actual differences in gender in which women just don't prefer to do mechanical things or spend a lot of time in OCD oriented hobbies and fields but prefer to work with people:

It'd be a real irony if we went through years more of this culture war and found in the end that women still just prefer certain careers and activities over others as this video seems to present evidence to support in the case of Sweden.
Nah, she definately knows NES and maaaaybe some snes era games that's why her criticisms are spot on, then she jumps straight to pretty much modern without so much as a peep. At that point Samus was all that there is. But yes I do argue proportionately.
I will say this, boys and girls are socialized differently, so it's possible. But STEM fields have a MUCH higher attrition rate for women then men, so even if the differences in socialization create part of this gap, culture in those fields magnifies it.

You were born after the SNES era ended, weren't you? Because had you been there, you'd know just how full of shit you are.
> At that point Samus was all that there is.
Peach in SMB2, Athena, DW4 lets you play male or female, Maria from FF2, Rydia, Rosa, and Porom from FF4, Terra, Celes, Relm, (Gogo?) from FF6, Marle, Lucca, Ayla from Chrono Trigger.
And that's without having to think about it too much. So in short, you are full of shit and have no fucking idea what you are talking about.
when I said "some snes era" I meant early, thought that was implied. Chrono trigger was late as was ff6.
FF2 wasn't released in america until MUCH later, playstation specifically. Rydia counts though (I refuse to count rosa because she's pretty much a carbon example of the tropes that Sarkeesian criticizes), but just because she may have been a gamer when it was out doesn't mean she necessarily played it. Don't think her series touched on jrpgs at all, but could be wrong.
Peach is playable but isn't much of a character.
Though, I didn't have an snes, my parents didn't allow me a console, we had a family computer that I may have started gaming on using znes.
> when I said "some snes era" I meant early, thought that was implied.
No asshole, no moving goalposts. You're wrong and you're stupid. Get lost now.
really? yep, because mentioning an earlier period and maaaaybe some of a later one totally implies the totality of a period rather then the beginning of the period. But nope, rules of discussion, no clarifying, it's moving the goalposts! because this totally was a formal debate and not a casual discussion with off the cuff replies.
You. Are. Not. Qualified. To. Comment. On. Early. Video. Games.
Get it through your skull, dumbshit. You don't fucking know even the basics, yet here you are trying to educate us. And you can't fucking fool us into believing you are some kind of expert, like you can with your fellow SJWs who also don't play video games. WE ARE FUCKING GAMERS. WE SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOU.
Really?!
STFU. Seriously.
No one is impressed. Are you really this fucking dumb, that you think you can just come in here and pretend you are one of us, while also saying the most mind-numbingly stupid things possible about the Nintendo era? What part don't you understand? You cannot fool us. Now fuck off back to your hugbox.
