They could. They probably won't. If they let /r/xkcd sit in the hands of someone who used it as a front to broadcast for subs about misogyny and anti-semitism (it's better now, but only because the original holder goofed and forgot to log in for a prescribed period of time), they're not likely to do anything as long as nitesmoke is willing to squat on the sub.

So it makes sense right now:

Nitesmoke has become ¨obsessed¨ with his power as /r/wow mod and now the rest of the mods are going to make an offensive and call all of the campions of /r/wow in order to dethrone nite.

Things will happend and nite will be put to trial by Reddit admins in wheter he'll stay as a regular user or be banned. In the meantime the Reddit admins put aphoenix as /r/wow head mod

Nite will escape the admins's veredict and will go back in time to gather an army in order to re-conquer /r/wow and take control of the other MMO subreddits

And that's exactly part of what's wrong with reddit. Large subreddits should be more than just their founders' playthings. /r/wow should really belong to the other moderators and the thousands of people who subscribed to it every bit as much as some guy who just happened to squat on a good name.

Actually all you need to do to be considered a reddit guild is have primarily reddit members in the guild and have a guild subreddit. Anything else to do with the guilds themselves are strictly up to the people in them. We don't have any say with what goes on in individual guilds. In this particular case I have no idea, I play on Malganis.
