The level of drama in general was mediocre by the standards of, say, The Fappening or Gamergate. But the level of hipster music drama in particular was great enough that I figured I'd share this anyway. Play by play with copious links:

• Here's the initial post triggering a one-day ban. For context, this links to the single most "liked" and "shared" post of mine this month on Instagram and Tumblr. Since I used to focus on more technical and business related submissions on this sub, I figured I'd change it up with something a bit lighter. Boy, was that a mistake...

• Here's the message I received from the mods berating me for posting my own music to the sub, which I didn't. It was a link to a photo. I also included my response. (Note: Imgur links from here on out.)

• [My first response from head mod /u/Originate.]((http://i.imgur.com/ymwFrkA.png) Choice phrases include "the title of your post almost assuredly gave everyone who saw it AIDs in their eyes" and "Think about what you've done and let the guilt seep in." Geez...

• At this point, I responded directly to /u/Originate with copy to the rest of the sub's mods. Here's the next missive I received from a progressively more hipster pissed five year old music mod. Choice phrases this time include "I've been moderating WatMM for half a decade. I created this sub. Your lectures hold no substance or bearing." Things seemed to promise detente for a moment at the end there, but...

• Then I got this winner of a response--with a permaban. Maybe it was a bad idea for me to cite the specific abuse of rhetoric that bugged me, but it's hilarious that he kept repeating it with "My 'genealogical fallacy' does matter as you're in my world here. I created it and spent 5 years of my life on it."

• Incidentally, I got a really nice, balance response from one of the other mods /u/xnoybis. Maybe one day folks like that will rescue the sub? Here's an imgur album of everything in one place..

A week later, and I'm still banned. Like I said, this story probably won't pop too many people's corn, but I figured this was the best place to share it anyway given the general, goofy stereotypes it affirmed about music hipsters plus the wonton abandonment of moddiquette. Since I mod several subreddits via my primary, 7+ year old user account and am also a musician, at the very least I figure that this is a cautionary tale to MYSELF to NOT do this shit to anybody else down the line lol
