The reason I gave you the "YOU BETTER DO SUMTHIN" is because I, like you, care about /r/guns. That sub was the reason I ever came to reddit and I don't want to see it die. It's your job as a mod to take care of the sub.

The sub isn't just you and the mods and your few favorites, It's made of its 100k subscribers. If they continually feel violated by the mods, What reason will they have to stay? This isn't me trying to force your hand. I'm imploring you to do the best thing for the sub.

I don't give a shit What you do judicially, as honestly it has no affect on my life and I will lose no sleep over it. I just hope that something is done before the sub dies because of stupid drama.

Don't be so defensive Omni. I'm not choosing any side but my own. My interests lay with /r/guns staying strong and healthy.

On a serious note Omni, I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to. We the little people have no power here. The most we can do once we are banned is make a new account. Downvote brigades? Who cares, it's reddit karma, if zap cared he'd not be such a dick

You are on /r/guns right? Where we yell, berate, namecall, and tonight ban people for the mildest of offenses? NONE of that describes /r/guns, except perhaps educated. In some cases. The rest might apply if you're a part of the "in" crowd.

If you want to effect change in /r/guns, YOU are one of the few people (some might say only, in terms of activity) who can ACTUALLY change it, and make it stick. I am one of 100,000; you are 1/10, and perhaps the most senior active moderator.

No shit. No one here is denying that. That is its own situation.

You guys claim to love reddiquette, and being "better" than /r/guns. You can do that by not going and downvoting people. I dont CARE about karma.

I CARE that it is vote manipulation, and is a shadowbannable offense. I would not be surprised if we ended up with a swath of both /r/guns and /r/firearms getting banned because of people acting like 12 year olds all around.

Yes, I can effect change. I have been fucking avoiding shit for the past couple of weeks dealing with personal shit. It sucks that one of my best friends died, but because all around people cant fucking grow the fuck up, I better put on my big girl panties and fucking deal with shit.

Look. I do not make excuses for /u/zaptal_47's behavior. However much like his, THIS behavior in this thread is completely unacceptable. This is my first time at /r/firearms, and I had to come here because as a content-only user of /r/guns, I never read the comments. So imagine my surprise when I go to read about a recent ka-boom and attempt to see what happened and if OP was okay, and find the entire subreddit blocked and a snarky message at the bottom of the page with some pseudo-personal message about how "stop messaging us, you're not getting in" because it's only for "responsible gun owners". That went from concerning to everybody involved, to involving everybody. Thanks for that.

Frankly I don't care about comment circlejerking or people not liking /u/zapta_47 or whatever heinous crimes the users have committed in the eyes of trolling mods. What pisses me off is my trying to visit /r/guns and getting put into this drama when I want to see an article. That's not the fault of /r/guns users, that's the fault of incompetent moderating and throwing tantrums.

And none of those all-caps PHONE CALLS were from me or other casual users.

I've seen other subreddits go down due to actual mass thread spamming and jokes, not just downvotes and a couple insults over shitty decisions, and they'll just put "down for maintenance" and do their job. Apparently the job of mods on /r/guns is to make sure literally everybody knows when they're pouting. I could have done without it, thanks, or all the whining about how brave you are to answer your phone. Again, why is this my problem?

Then you talk big about daddy being home and pissed? Telling folks to take their cocks out of their hands? Oh the bravery. That's very necessary. That's not at all exacerbating the situation or solving absolutely nothing. You're just as much the problem.

How about you just moderate, apologize to users, and stop trying to play it like /r/guns users owe you guys anything.
