I didn't even post in the sub, haven't been there in over a year. I DID however post an unkind word about them in THIS sub and it got me banned over there. :)

Edit: Whelp, I screwed up. Looks like I unknowingly posted on that comment thread in /r/guns when I THOUGHT I still posting in /r/firearms. My bad.

I really don't mind being banned. I posted there the other night on accident but otherwise I hadn't even visited in over a year.

In my opinion though the sub deserves be badmouthed and bitched about. The moderators are power-mad dictators and the whole sub is plugged (or plagued) with too many pictures of whatever the current popular gun is while useful conversations are either bitch-slapped into the spam filter or completely ignored by most users.

Sorry if I'm hurting your delicate little feelers but you know it's the truth.

With the exception of a few of these instances, the mods are always more than fair with others, and give mod challenges to those banned to redeem themselves. This doesn't happen as often as everyone says it does.

Our subreddit also has way more user generated content, not news. We don't want that shit, and even if some guns are the newest and coolest (most gunnitors don't actually give a fuck), but their post has good pictures and a good informative description, it deserves to get up voted. Those also usually engage discussion in the comment section among the users, not dicks-in-hand meaningless circle jerks.

When the 1,000,000,000th picture of a Mosin Nagant was posted and upvoted I gave up. When the 10,000,000th picture of an XD was posted I just noped the hell out. Talk about your meaningless circle-jerks!

If that sub works for you then great, it doesn't work for me which is why I quit visiting. We wouldn't even be having this conversation except you seem to think it's a perfect place. It's not. It's content is repetitive and its moderators are thin-skinned despots.

Frankly the same thing that happened in /r/technology will eventually happen in /r/guns. Yes, your moderators are that screwed up.

Since you think that is the content of our sub, you've clearly shown you haven't been to the sub ever. Your hate for the sub is clouding your perception of what the sub is filled with.

Anyway, I don't "hate" your sub. I'm honestly ambivalent to it, the only reason I care enough to post on this thread is because I'm passionate about abuse of power by moderators. I've been doing the admin / mod thing since '98 and I've seen 10,000 power abusers just like Zap and they really piss me off.

I earned my ban, albeit accidentally, but it's okay. I hadn't been there in quite a while and had no plans to go back. If it matters, and it doesn't, I neither upvoted nor downvoted in the thread at /r/guns.

So hey, go grab yourself another cuppa and move on. I'm not worth your time and there's no way for you to "win" with me since I really don't care about "your" sub.

I'm not a mod, but I am a regular there and a known contributor to the sub, and other regulars of the like would also refer to it in a possessive manner.
