Problem with "Open link in background tab"

I recently updated my extensions and can no longer "Open link in background tab". Menu Editor lists the option and I can select and reorder it in Menu Editor, but it does not appear in the menu. When I click on a link it opens in the Current Tab even though I have all links set to open in a new background tab in every extension where I can find the option to do so. Ken

What about middle click of mouse button? Preferences -> Advanced -> Shortcuts -> Middle click options... -> Open in background page

Two menu items for opening a tab? That would increase clutter in the context menu. You do however have a point in that Shift+"Open Link in New Tab" should reverse the foreground/background preference.

You can't, but if your mouse has a wheel, you can use Mouse Wheel Down (provided your mouse has that, but most newer ones do), to open a link in a background tab. If you want to use MS Wheel Down in another way, press Shift + Mouse Wheel, and it will show a dialog.

I've updated my post, it was inaccurate at first. I did search, and this has been requested several times.
