Police say there were two ocean incidents in Waikiki on Saturday.
A near drowning happened around 7:30 a.m. near the Waikiki police substation.
A male in his 50s was taken in critical condition to Straub.
Emergency officials say he was surfing in waters fronting the Duke Kahanamoku statue when he was found by bystanders before lifeguards were on duty.
About an hour later, a 63-year-old male was found unresponsive in the water at Waikiki. Bystanders brought the victim ashore, and EMS was notified.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have classified the case as an unattended death.
