A little while ago Mises Daily ran another excerpt of Murray N. Rothbard concerning this same type of proto-Omega Point concept ("Marx and Alienation", Sept. 20, 2012), taken from Vol. 2, Ch. 11 of An Austrian Perspective on the History of Economic Thought.
Although contrary to what Rothbard thought, this concept of man becoming God is simply traditional Christianity, going all the way back to Jesus's teachings, that of Paul and the other Epistlers, and that of the Church Fat...

The key step in secularizing dialectic theology, and thus in paving the way for Marxism, was taken by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831).

Dr. Sean M. Carroll is being extremely dishonest in not mentioning the work of physicist and mathematician Prof. Frank J. Tipler in his article "Does the Universe Need God?" and apparently in his interview by Life's Little Mysteries (if Carroll did mention Tipler in his interview, then Life's Little Mysteries should have contacted Tipler for a contrasting perspective for this article). No person has done more extensive work in the field of physics and its relation to natural ...theology than has Tipler--not even remotely close.
In Dr. Carroll's article for the Blackwell Companion volume, Carroll himself invokes anthropic reasoning in order to explain the observations of the universe, yet still to date the standard work in this field is The Anthropic Cosmological Principle (Oxford, UK: Clarendon Press, 1986) by cosmologists John D. Barrow and Frank J. Tipler, with a foreword by John A. Wheeler, but Carroll doesn't even cite this leading work on the subject.
This is the first book wherein Prof. Tipler's Omega Point cosmology was published, of which cosmology was later proved (in 1997) as a mathematical theorem per the known laws of physics (i.e., the Second Law of Thermodynamics, General Relativity, and Quantum Mechanics). The Omega Point cosmology is a proof of God's existence per said known laws of physics.
Prof. Tipler's Omega Point cosmology has been peer-reviewed and published in a number of the world's leading physics journals.
Thus, Dr. Carroll is being extremely dishonest in not mentioning Prof. Tipler's work on this, since Tipler's Omega Point cosmology goes to the very heart of what Carroll is writing on, i.e., evidence from physics of God's existence.
Dr. Carroll can't claim that he was unaware of Prof. Tipler, given Carroll's blog post "The Varieties of Crackpot Experience" (Discover Blogs, Jan. 5, 2009) wherein Carroll engages in vicious ad hominem smears against Tipler. On that same blog page I methodically decimate Carroll's attack upon Tipler in a reply.
For much more on Prof. Tipler's Omega Point cosmology and the Feynman-DeWitt-Weinberg quantum gravity/Standard Model Theory of Everything (TOE) correctly describing and unifying all the forces in physics, see my free article James Redford, "The Physics of God and the Quantum Gravity Theory of Everything", Social Science Research Network (SSRN), Sept. 10, 2012 (orig. pub. Dec. 19, 2011), 186 pp., doi:10.2139/ssrn.1974708, http://ssrn.com/abstract=1974708.

    • BadLuck Bootsy Even the most amino-acid-laden meteorites manifest scant abundance levels! The Murchison meteorite yielded an abundance for all the bioactive amino acids of just 15 parts per million. Meteorites do not contain all 21 species of bioactive amino acids!!! Only six to eight were found in the Murchison meteorite. The majority of bioactive amino acids have not been found in any meteorite! But lets give the atheists all the L-H amino acids they want, what is going to organize them into proteins?
