Good comedy is about 95% truth with 5% embellishment. This joke is 50% embellishment and 50% truth, making it a poorly told joke. Had he cut out the part concerning daily torture & beatings it would have a much more realistic impact. As it is, some people who believe most of what he says is true and have not bothered to educate themselves concerning Mandela's time in prison would come away thinking he was actually tortured and beaten every day for 27 years. The 'divorce after six months' part makes for a funny joke, but the set-up sucked because it's based on a false presumption.
