Class and dignity? The ice girls' uniforms are essentially the same as olympic figure skaters wear. Does olympic figure skating upset you as well?

The ice girls are also legitimately talented skaters that have obviously been skating for many years. They don't dance or parade around and aren't denigrated in any way. They're actually tasked with performing a fairly important function at a hockey game during the tv timeouts.

The only thing they've appear to have done wrong as far as I can tell from people who complain about them is that they're pretty. They're paid for their work and haven't asked to be "rescued" by anybody.

If anything is offensive about this whole thing, it's people who think that just because someone is female they're too damn stupid or incompetent to know what's good for them.

I don't watch Olympic Figure Skating and I don't have any opinons on it.

If you think anyone is demanding the ice girls come back because of their ability to skate you're wrong. We also might have different definitions of the word "denigrated".

I haven't heard one person talk about them being pretty or not. I didn't use the word "rescue".

Also, I'm sorry if you've been offended by any of this, especially at the view our fan base is expressing about females. But I can relate.

The type of person who audibly boo's a group of men cleaning the ice because they want girls in skirts to do it is a disgusting person.

Today the Flyers Organization said they "Listened" to their fan base. I am a fan. They did not listen to me. They can't ascribe that level of misogyny to me.

I do not accept that a rational person can look at what is happening in this situation and see it as anything more than a tasteless objectification of women. If you just don't care... then thats another story. And its a much sadder story.

You have many valid points, and I am a supporter for ice-girls; I too do beleive it was quite irrational and unneccessary to boo the men cleaning the ice. I understand you view it as mysognistic and tasteless objectification of women. I can agree with you that it does objectifies women. The main issue is that the women were objectified combined with poor working conditions. If they can improve the conditions I am all for it.

I do know women who have always wanted to become cheerleaders and dancers, some who have even achieved it. These ice girls may also enjoy hockey and can go to games for free as a job perk.

These jobs create modelling opportunities for women. Other teams still have ice-girls and their attire is no more different than cheerleaders, I am under the assumption that you would like to see the removal of cheerleaders as well.

I think if you read what I've said here and then read what you've written about me out loud you'd realize how you have missed my point entirely. I will say that if anything I've said has embarrassed you, it wasn't my intention and you've misunderstood me.

I also I am very clearly not belittling anyone.

I realize you don't go on this subreddit to have your mind changed and nothing I say is going to flip a switch in your head. You may know not as much about this as you think you do. I have very strong suspicion that you have no idea what misogyny really means. I'd encourage you to talk to someone you know and trust about this and ask how they feel.

If you honestly believe that the people who boo'ed the all-male ice team where doing so because they didn't want to "belittle" people, I would be absolutely amazed at your logic.
