what kind of idiot equates getting sexual gratification from a woman's body against her will with rape?

Rape would be, you know, actually having sex with a person who doesn't consent. Looking at pictures shouldn't be equated with that.

Don't dismiss it as "looking at pictures". It's getting sexual gratification from a woman's body against her will.

Masturbating to pictures of someone without their consent ≠ having sex with someone without their consent. I didn't mean to sound dismissive. It's terrible, but it's not rape. It should not be called rape.

the point isn't that it is literally rape, but that the normalization of the action of looking at these stolen pictures is indicative of our culture's disregard for women's autonomy and consent.

The utilization of the term rape for anything that someone thinks might be sexual and makes them uncomfortable is a disregard for rape victims and the trauma they have been through.

Why are we parsing this? Women are being targeted, shamed, and humiliated online – a public forum. This can lead to ruining reputations of those targeted. Subsequently, lives have been cut tragically short due to the fall from a figurative pedestal established by white males who simultaneously build this pedestal edifice while seeking self-gratifcation in humiliation and violation of women.

Why are we parsing this?

Because the whole point of this conversation thread is that rape and looking at illegally obtained nude photographs are not the same thing. I put forth that minimizing rape is harmful and offensive to rape victims. Try derailing the conversation somewhere else.

I maintain that both are egregious violations of a person's private life.

Its not "anything sexual". It's getting sexual gratification from a woman's body against her will.

Together we can stop stare rape! Ensure all women wear garb that completely conceal them from the dreaded MALE GAZE. Require all women to have a male guardian in public to protect her from the brutes out for rape.

If you think everyone who looks at you or smiles at you wants to rape/have sex with you, then you have some pretty unhealthy attitudes about sex and people. If it's only men who stare rape you, then you're sexist as well.

People who get hysterical and yell about psychological rape and how circumcision is the same as FGM are ridiculous. All your rhetoric does is the polarize issue and alienate the segment of society that hasn't drank your particular brand of kool aid.

Have a nice day.
