I'm all for supporting a brother's endeavours. I am just opposed to using the Craft and its symbols to do so. Even if that S&C is made out of bacon.

There's a reason you're not supposed to put your MM certificate on the wall in your business. Or are we now using the Craft for mercenary motives? 1st degree -- look it up.

I'm quite intimately familiar with all charges, thank you very much. The S&C to me means a lot of things and one of that is kaizen and, ultimately, perfection. What we have here is a Brother who asked for my assistance promoting his LIVELIHOOD, I mean his expertise happened to be curing meat. He's been doing this since I was just 9 years old (1990), would it be fair to speculate that this is his passion (aka his craft)?

As a graphics artist, I have rendered the S&C in a lot of different ways as tribute to the working Mason such as this one for Mason chefs, this one for Mason broadcasters, and this one for the manual labourer and I heard no complaints at all. Now a Brother who makes bacon and I hear this?!

Mercenary motives? Please enlighten me.

I too am intimately familiar with the Work. The S&C are a symbol of the Craft and should not be used for the promotion of private interests. Period.

By all means promote a brother's endeavours. But don't use the S&C to do it. I don't why you didn't hear complaints about your previous transgressions. You didn't hear from me simply because I never saw them. Although I notr two of them are different in that they do not promote a particular business or enterprise.

Perhaps you should seek guidance from Grand Lodge on appropriate uses of our symbols.

See, the problem is you see things in black and white and you fail to notice the beautiful shades of the colours in between. Transgressions? You call my work transgressions? Brother, I hope you realize that you are making a serious allegation here. Perhaps you're the one who need some guidance.

I second this! In Canada at least, the Square and Compasses is officially trademarked by the GLCA-PO who lets other Grand Lodges in Canada use it, but under no circumstances may it be used for commercial activities.

So, if we are to follow your logic, private business such as Masonic regalia companies worldwide are breaking Masonic laws because they promote and sell products with S&C? Is that correct?
