It's a battle of the throwaways!
First off, /u/confusedbyhaters posts about perceived bullying of MUA users by MUACJ.
Made a throwaway for this but I am a member of this sub on my main account. So today I was scrolling through posts and I noticed someone mentioned /r/muacirclejerk. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to look at their top posts and I was astounded by how nasty and awful those people can be...but then I noticed that some of those posts had members of this sub that were posting there. This confused the hell out of me and kind of made me mad because the things that some of our own subscribers were saying were truly terrible, calling people ugly bitches, meatwads, fat, etc. How do you all feel about this? With the news of one of our super skilled Makeup Addicts having to delete her account do to someone bullying her this really bothered me and I would like to hear your opinions about it.
Thanks all!
The top comment leaves a seemingly reasonable opinion on the matter:
I had a little peek too today to see what it was all about. I didn't see anything really awful, I think a lot of it is tongue in cheek and not to be taken seriously. As long as they aren't mentioning people directly by name I think it is just a way of being able to laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously. But if they are properly bulling and naming people then that's not cool. But that's just my opinion :)
But it's then hi-jacked by a throwaway to point out that there is a large number of throwaway accounts being used in the thread. They basically accuse OP of using alts to promote their views against /r/muacirclejerk.
One of the aforementioned throwaways then responds by calling the other throwaway paranoid, and that it's smart to post on throwaways because MUACJ users will follow you around for months and downvote you.
Another user doesn't get the hate towards MUACJ, causing another throwaway to pop-up calling out a few threads that are making fun of a few users.
One user believes that she shouldn't be bothered by MUACJ so long as they have their outlet to bash and rant without personally attacking MUA users.
This opinion was presumably downvoted before I got here, as the next user comments:
It figures that the only reply with any logic gets downvoted. I have to wonder how most of these people made it through life if they can't take strangers talking shit about them.
They're strangers, who cares?
If you don't want to be butthurt about people making fun of something you love, don't visit places that actively hate on things you love.
If you don't want to get lit on fire, don't stand in freaking volcano.
Turns out this user posts in /r/fatpeoplehate, which another user doesn't take too kindly too. These two users then have a conversation (that surprisingly turns out civil) about whether or not it's okay to make fun of fat people.
SRD gets a shout-out here!
The user from the previous drama (who we seemingly mistook for ANOTHER user from some previous drama a few months ago) speaks up.
One user believes MUACJ is made up of people low self esteem or jealousy issues, this doesn't go over very well.
All this over make-up? Surely somebody realizes the absurdity of it all, right?
Guys, it's makeup. Makeup. It's not a big deal. It's fun to laugh about the hivemind every now and then.
While some rude things were said, the mods took care of it a long time ago.
Hurray!
Really? The mods delete comments of users that have come in and argued for themselves, but leave the original comments and posts of the people doing the bullying and shaming. I don't think that's taking care of it.
Annnnd we're back.
