There´s TWO blows with the left. First one, harder to see, is at :25 (you can see her head going to her left, his body and knees rotating along with the blow. Then she comes forward and walks into the the blow that levels her at :27.

In other words, she was coming at him aggressively when he struck her the second time.

lol right I'm sure he felt very threatened by the 120 pound woman who was approximately 5x weaker than him.

If she did in fact spit on him or hit him, I'm sure he did feel threatened. I would be.

I'm not necessarily saying that the fact that she was coming aggressively when he struck him the second time necessarily excuses him -- that would depend on whether or not she was defending herself or simply striking at him unprovoked seconds before when she appears to have hit him.

Reverse the genders. If a man backhanded a woman and then advanced on her and she KO'd him she'd be on the view sipping mimosas.

That Doesnt mean he has to just take a barrage of punches.

Hit someone? Expect them to hit back.

She deserved it. He only hit her once.

Alternatively, can we agree that just because someone is moving aggressively toward you with the intention of physical violence, doesnt automatically warrant a person's full level of aggression? Especially someone of Ray Rice's physical prowess? Can we agree a one-size fits all retaliation to all acts of aggression are inappropriate? Especially when the aggressor is much physically weaker and presents no true threat to Rice.

Ray Rice absolutely did not have to KO his abusive fiancee in that situation. To argue otherwise is actually doing more harm than good when attempting to hold all people accountable for domestic violence.

Ray Rice had the opportunity to walk away from the situation before following her into the elevator or to choose to react with a lower, more appropriate level of force when facing a non-life threatening situation.

"Deserving it" is no excuse to KO a person in this scenario, just like you would expect Rice to restrain himself when faced with a non-weaponized attack from a child or a different much, much weaker human. Just because she was also wrong, doesn't make his actions justified or right. Just because she should know better doesn't mean he should use disproportionate force against her.

Hard to defend the actions of Rice.

you had me until the third line. Looks like he hit her more than once, and she definitely didn't deserve to be KO'd like that.
