Did you buy direct from Amazon, or another seller?
I really wish people would be more clear about the origin of items when reviewing.

This review is from: Premier Housewares Stoneware Mortar and Pestle, White (Kitchen & Home)
The one I've received is different to the picture at Amazon being a different size (12 x 7 cm), a thinner body and it's cream inside not white. So one star deduced for that. I've uploaded a picture so you can see the difference.
Also there's a glaze defect on the handle, not a functional problem but not first quality either - so another star off for that. However I'm leaving three stars in because it does exactly what I wanted it for - grinding up small quantities of herbs and spices - and the price was very reasonable.

I've had this point on my mind for years. It's like people have no concept of origin when reviewing. Like buying a bad carton of milk from a shop and saying "don't ever buy cartons of milk people, they come in awful condition!"

Yes - I bought it directly from Amazon. Why would I write a review of something different to this product?
Yes - it WAS different to the picture as I stated. Yes - it DID have a glaze defect on the handle. Yes - it DOES do what I wanted it for.

Sorry it's just it happens sooo often! You have to admit it does! People review seller-bought items and it's impossible to know this. Sorry again.

Well, many sellers sell the same products on Amazon, on the product page; to the left you can find cheaper sellers of the exact same product. I've bought things before from an alternative seller because it was offered for less, only to be sent a different and often inferior product without any warning of this.
So in response to "Why would I write a review of something different to this product?" - you said yourself that you received a slightly different item than the one in the picture. The PRODUCT is meant to be the same from all the sellers on the product page. I was asking if you bought directly from Amazon company, because if it were from *Amazon the Company* then they would not just send you an alternative product without an explanation (unless the Premier Housewares had changed their design and supplied Amazon with the new design, but then the picture would also be updated). You probably ordered from one of the many alternative sellers that sell on the *Amazon Website* without realising. Amazon sells products, they also allow other sellers to sell the same items on their site (a bit like Ebay). Make sure you know who you are ordering from, when reviewing and mentioning any problems - state who sold you the item. If it was a Seller, selling on the site and they send you a different item - email them and demand a replacement or a refund and do not pay any return costs. It's their responsibility, they fraudulently claimed to stock the item and then supplied you, the buyer with a different, possibly cheaper/inferior item.

Asking questions and offering some helpful advice is arrogant? I'm not arrogant, I was asking for clarity - I was not trying to insult you. Turn the hostility down a notch. It is common for people to make the kind of mistake I outlined, you're apparently not one of them, congratulations and thank you for taking the time to respond.

PLEASE NOTE I SAID I'D BOUGHT IT DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON AFTER YOUR INITIAL COMMENT - YET YOU UNBELIEVABLY _STILL_ QUESTIONED THAT FACT. I CAN UNDERSTAND A SINGLE MISTAKE BUT TO TELL ME IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS A _SECOND_ TIME " You probably ordered from one of the many alternative sellers that sell on the *Amazon Website* without realising. " THAT I WAS WRONG IS UNFORGIVABLE.

Your hostility is shocking. I was asking for CLARITY, I was looking to purchase this item and wanted to make sure you were not one of the very common, mistaken and uninformed people that tend to write negative reviews. I wanted to make sure you weren't mistaken before I took into account your review when deciding to buy it or not.
SOME people think that everything that is bought on Amazon.co.uk is SOLD BY Amazon EU S.a.r.L. If you're not one then fantastic, excuse me for not assuming that every random person on the internet is inherently right. Honestly, you shouldn't write reviews if you're too fragile to handle someone asking questions regarding your experience. Dial down the aggressive responses and calm down, nothing of what I said was personal, nor meant to be insulting. Asking for clarity and making sure you we're an informed buyer before I took your review into consideration is not something that warrants being 'yelled' at on the internet. |
